Rohan Shravan & his team started work on the Adam way back in 2006/7. What they have built is a brilliant solution, but they have a long way to go.
Firstly, here's the clear Pros: Real multi-tasking: With a multi-core cpu, Adam can support mutiple concurrent apps while Ipad can only run ONE, coz its just a Iphone with larger display minus the phone. Superior Display: 3 modes of display so it can be effectively used even in sunlight, while Ipad cant be. Far Better resolution(HD quality videos & Gaming). 6point touch for much more complex interactions via touch-screen Connectivity: Again, Adam supports 3G in addition to wireless N/w so you can hook-up to Net anywhere there is a phone signal not just wireless hotspots. ALSO, it has 3 USB ports & 1 HDMI port so far better extensibilty like hooking up to pen-drives, projectors etc. If that wasnt enough you have a card reader for extra storage. Swivel Camera: So you can project yourself OR others. High resolution so can be used for video conferencing Battery life: 3 different display modes & Tegra chip being very efficient, the capacity is AT-LEAST twice that of Ipad
Cons: Apple is succesful due to its hugely popular Apps-Store. Now Adam can rely on Android apps, but they need to do more.
Usability: Apple is a champ of super-easy usability. Remeber the pinch in pinch-out browsing on iphone? Will Adam have such S/w features??

Contd.. Software: The Adam needs to export API's to its devices like Camera. They should add a GPS chip & provide API's to get location info from it
Release Date: This could be the Make/Break thing. Till now Adam has been floating in the buzz generated by Ipad. But if they Delay a launch beyond June/July, that buzz may die down & then they will need to invest in renewed Mktg campaigns...

Totally agree with you. Unfortunately i dont know if Indian companies like Infosys will get behind the "service oriented mindset" to really push this through, but they can if they want to. Whats the use of Narayan Murthy creating that fund corpus for innovation if he cannot step in and launch these guys?

How can u say MNC is a n MNC wihtout categorization? Most Indian MNC's are service oriented, not innovation oriented.
If you stick to Tech, Many US based MNC's concentrate on Innovation. That is what gives a better "revenue per engineer".
Texas Instruments with approx 25000 workforce earns about 13 billion in revenue. Wipro with more than 1 lakh employees earns about 4 to 5 billion in revenue.
MNC's are not just MNCs. and by the way, yes they do care about money, because unfortunately both the examples i gave are public companies that are responsible to their shareholders.

well, the problem with it is the fact that, it is difficult to read in sunlight. PixelQi solves that by having e-ink display in sunlight and oled class display in dark(non sunlight). btw, e-ink saves more power than OLED. so you are wrong on that count too..
Its unclear to me whether its a laptop or an ipod kind of device. Also i like to hear more..about how they achieved longer battery lives and what is the innovation in this apart from a couple of small software applications. But the spirit of these men is appreciated. Good.
India and Indians does not need any external enemy. The Enemy within who is none other than other selfish, narrow minded Indian is sufficient to destroy the innovation, encouragement and any advancement. These scumbags are proud to claim they are product of IIM, IIT etc and work for MS, Intel, IBM, Dell et al. but never proud to be associated with any Indian innovations. Even great Steve Jobs proudly agreed that Apple never invented anything new for their iPhone instead assembled multiple functionalities/tools in a single piece. I say to those critics out there, let us not discourage these lads and their entrepreneurship. Let us offer our constructive encouragements and come out with ideas/applications to support Adam. Let Adam and iPad or any other similar gadgets co-exist and market place will decide which one is superior and competitive. Trust I am the alone in this thoughts.
great work 1.but the fast is , we never make any chipset in india from design to fab, we do only design.. the remain back end and fab in east asian countries...' 2.i hope these people bought some ready made product and add progammed the processor and OS... we never have any full product come testing in india....
