Dear Saptarishi, Beetle is 22 lacks in India because of import duties levied on it. It was launched as people's car and it was the cheapest car when it was launched. And yes, it runs runs and runs. It never caught fire...

Sanjeev
Saptashiri has a very valid point. Irrespective of the import duties the cost of the car is about 15 times more than Nano.
If the price of Nano is doubled Tata will themselves double up the spec on the car. :) Every thing comes with a cost..
But as it is the first year afetr the Nano lauch there may be a few tweaks that are needed, which will be done promptly.
For all the numpties who claim that there was a car launched with 100% perfection on day 1, they are not even qualified to talk about this subject as it shows their lack of awareness in this area.

Ohh Yes, tweaks at the cost of people's life??? Engine heating is the first thing I would take care of if I design a car. Even a dummy would not miss such vital point
If you know the history of Beetle then you would know it was the world's first people's car.
My guess is Arun had the original Beetle car in mind not the new improvised one.

Just out of curiosity.. do you have the stats of how many things went wrong when Beetle was launched...
When countries with such heavy engineering expertice can go wrong in some areas, India automotive inductry which is relatively new can afford to do mistakes..
by the way no one died till now due to a Nano unlike what happened to other cars like Maruthi... :)
Remove the doors from the car! people can escape in case of fire & you can further reduce the price of the car to less than 1 lakh! Indian people will lap it up!! What say Ratan? A promise is a Promise?

Jackal / Ravi,
Lets touch base after 5 years and see if you would regret this comment.. :)
Ireespective of you moaning about it or not, Tata's have put in their efforts for developing a product which is more cost effective compared to many companies globally.
Nano is going to survive.. It will be tweaked as necessary (should a fault be found with it)but all products will have improvised versions...
Every thing from a mobile phone to an Aircraft unlike people :)
What is your contribution other than moaning and groaning ?
Re: TatA Indica Lsi model is best

so what makes u think ur indica is better than alto? I as a owner of an alto can atleast say that such dangerous problems havent been found till to date in any maruti petrol vehicle. I have seen even among indicas life threatening electronic malfunctions where the power windows got stuck and owners got killed in heavy rains. so what makes ur indica safer than a nano.

Tata Indica is a Truck of the size of a car. You dont have to honk after using for a year. The sound that emanates is good enough to replace a horn. Even if your horn is not blowing you need not repair it.
An Industry official says;""You cannot expect the safest and best quality in a car when you are going for a cheap car,". what the hell?? I am not expecting nano to come wth a 6 airbags, reinforced steel or a strong crumpling zone; but i do expect it atleast to be in a good shape. I remember havin a M800 for 10 years when I was a kid, even wth AC on and 5 people wth luggage, it never broke a sweat. Time for some retrospection for Tata. However driven nano for a while, I must say its an excellent car in tht price value.

You stupid bong stooge of maoist sympatiser air head , brain dead minister. Do you have any idea of statistics of brand of car that caught fire in INDIA. Maruti had a quite a lot of them with fatalities. Google it , in the last incident a couple died in a Maruti at DND flyway .... they could not comeout of the car as the central locking system faulted.... NANO is in the stage of evolution ... it made India proud ...u and ur moron didi ...can shout ur heart out...
What an excuse by TATA. have you ever thought being in the auto manufacturing that VW beatle has rear engine air cooled engine and has never caught fire till date. the argument is rubbish and nano is no good a car worth the money spent.

U can sell bajji, dosha, appam, chaya in nano door to door or can start roadside malabari cafeteria in kerala.
