US should be punished by the world
by Pillay on Sep 25, 2009 12:10 PM

In fact the USA, UK and Europian countries are responsible for the climate change due to their demonic play in gulf, bombarding hundreds and thousands of killar bombs, spreading those demonic mulla blood and emitting their poisonous fumes and evil spirits into our tender atmosphere.

We should prepare ourselves right now or else these caucasians are preparing to finish rest of the races from the World just like they did with those demons of gulf. They are just using this frustrated jelous retarded kalkaluta Obama the wildman to run all sorts of tyranny against India.

It is not a question of Who is responsible, but a question of who are all getting affected.

The developed countries have done /are doing major damages. But we can underestimate the contribution of developing countries like China, India, Brazil, South Africa.... to the damages done.

It is good the developed countries spent money for the research on emission control and developed products for that. What we need to do is only upgrading all our future products to reach low emission standards. Of course we need to get the technology at cheaper cost or low cost. But we cannot deny our responsibility.

Curse of Akkad_Ancient civilization_modern Climate change
by Satyasiba Bedamatta on Sep 25, 2009 12:02 PM

Curse of Akkad suggests the collapse of ancient civilization due to climate change (CC). And if the archaeological and
paleoclimatological record yields evidence to that effect, what would it mean in a world that is today debating whether industrial civilization is altering Earth's climate with uncertain consequences? I dont want to discuss this issue here. If at all there is change in climate due to GHGs, I do support Prof. Jagdish Bhagwati's idea of Stock and Flow concept to solve the problem. What amount of stock (GHGs)is there, DEVELOPED countries have to bear the cost....and we have flow problem, that all have to equally bear the cost. Instead of believing in PANIC-monger driven by GREEN Corporates, we should invest our time, fund and research on how to Adapt the situation.
Now some researchers telling that economic loss will be more now and onwards. WHY? Obviously CC is not the cause. HOW? Let me explain, actually we are building up more of ECONOMICS in Vulnerability place. Therefore in consequence Economic loss will be more. So fault lies with our Myopic policy maker in building uo of Economics in wrong places.

I would not see any problem if at all there will bee some agreement like STOCK and FLOW arrangement

We need to act fast against pollution
by Mr Walker on Sep 25, 2009 11:58 AM  | Hide replies

Pollution is getting to our youth and very fast. Our cities have some of the highest pollution rates and this not only effects the body but the mind too.

Forget what the west says we need to control our pollution and population for sake of our own good.

Why should we replicate the western model of development at all ? they arr paying the price for that and we should be learning from it rather than blindly following it.

Instead of blaming them we should just account for the red signals and start moving towards a cleaner and greener economy for ourselves , else egoistical blame games will cause our own destruction.

Our leaders are not serious about population control. Reason. Vote bank politics. When Karnatak CM after his China tour proposed China model for population control(though as not stringent), Congress opposed it calling it RSS agenda than Chinese idea. It is because the Congress do'nt want to solve problems. THey want to keep it alive and milk from it.

OH STOP this drama
by akmal khan on Sep 25, 2009 11:33 AM

All the so called Great Leaders should host these meetings and summits to display their contributions and developments in cutting green house gasses and not to piont fingers. US tells India and China, India says No, China acts dumb and deaf, etc.. and People around the world turn off their lights for 2 Hours in support of cause. is democracy useless in this scenario ?

Indian argument is wrong
by Venkata Ramana on Sep 25, 2009 11:28 AM  | Hide replies

It is true that emissions per person in India are less than those in other countries, but we should not look at EMISSIONS PER PERSSON.

We are a country of 1.2 to 1.3 billion and our population is one-sixth of the world's population (how shameless!!!). Since we have more than 1.2 billion persons, our emissions per person will be obviously less.

The area of India is about half of Europe, but our population density is much higher.

The correct criterion should be EMISSIONS PER UNIT AREA (SQUARE KILOMETER). When you consider the size of India, its area in square kilometers, find out what is the quantity of emissions per square kilometer. Is that less than the global average of emissions per square kilometer or not?

That is the question to be asked: what is the quantity of emissions per square kilometer in India and how does that compare with USA, Europe, China and other countries?

I guess our EMISSIONS PER SQUARE KILOMETER would be much higher than in USA, Europe or China.

So, it may be necessary for India to reduce its emissions.

Will our politicians and bureaucrats understand?

What are u talking about. Just to make india cut back emissions, u talk about a new criteria.

India is not responsible for climate change. This has been the fault of west which have been burning fossil fuels for the past 200 years. I am all support for not cutting emissions even for the next 50 years. Climate change can come ;later.

First our priority is to remove poverty, unemployment, build world- class infrastucture. The Indian governemnt's stand is absolutely right.

You are right but these people who claim to be patriotic will blame you for speaking out obvious truth.
The problem with Indians is their non-acceptance of truth and reality.

If only they would understand M K Gandhi rather than routinely puttting garlands on his statue.

Area of Europe is double of India, but the population is half, true. But, the population of human beings of european origin is double of India and area under the control of people of european origin is more than half of the world.
Please don't guess anything , know the facts, they are all available in the net. CO2 emission of India is 3-5% of the world emission, whereas that of USA is close to 20%, even countries like Australia contribute CO2 more than India. Please understand, this is armtwisting by the west to curb the growth of Asia, in the guise of climate.

you try to understand before preaching others. The 3-5% pollution is not done by 1.3 billion people. It is by a few million people leding polluing lifestyles. These people are as big a polluter as americans. A person with a car will pollute more in 1 day than 1000 poor people pollute in their lives. What lazy indians are doing is showcasing their poor population to corner befits for themselves, much like the quota champions.
