Developed Countries can not, after their huge energy consumption, per capita, tell us to reduce our miniscule amounts;they should reduce their rescource consumption to counter balance our increase, let them go without electricity for two months a year as a start of bearing the consequences of their dirty polluting ways, past and present.

U.S. has the highest number of per capita emissions. these are merely tricks to hamper India's growth. As Indian we always live with minimum wastage be it water or electricity. Most of our daily house hold items (cary bag to vessels) are made of material which last longer. We use PCs, Refregerator and Aircon for longer period than our US counterpart. as such, I dont think we need big daddy to teach us what we need to do rather they should have a look at their own backyard.

Use Non conventional energy
by subbu on Sep 25, 2009 12:23 PM  | Hide replies

Why is India looking at only conventional sources of energy. Why cant they look at non-conventional sources like solar power, wind power and even tidal power. there are so many options available. offcourse we must save earth to leave some oxygen for our future generations to breath

Subbu,

We appreciate your concerns. But if u are from India, than i would like to ask you something.

Would you be ready to pay double the amount for your electricity cost that you are paying now? If yes than we can move ahead with non conventional energy too.

STOCK and Flow Concept
by Satyasiba Bedamatta on Sep 25, 2009 12:23 PM

Curse of Akkad suggests the collapse of ancient civilization due to climate change (CC). And if the archaeological and
paleoclimatological record yields evidence to that effect, what would it mean in a world that is today debating whether industrial civilization is altering Earth's climate with uncertain consequences? I dont want to discuss this issue here.

If at all there is change in climate due to GHGs, I do support Prof. Jagdish Bhagwati's idea of Stock and Flow concept to solve the problem. What amount of stock (GHGs)is there, DEVELOPED countries have to bear the cost....and we have flow problem, that all have to equally bear the cost. Instead of believing in PANIC-monger driven by GREEN Corporates, we should invest our time, fund and research on how to Adapt the situation.
Now some researchers telling that economic loss will be more now and onwards. WHY? Obviously CC is not the cause. HOW? Let me explain, actually we are building up more of ECONOMICS in Vulnerability place. Therefore in consequence Economic loss will be more. So fault lies with our Myopic policy maker in building up of Economics in wrong places.

I would not see any problem if at all there will bee some agreement like STOCK and FLOW arrangement

India must accept the targets for emission reduction and stop polluting the earth.
