SEZ and Aruna Roy
by raman govindan on Oct 19, 2009 01:17 PM  | Hide replies

"Ultimately what they do is they don't produce anything and after some years they will just become real estate agents." citation required.

before SEZ were formed in PR china, Honkong and Taiwan were in essence the SEZ for the PR China. the locations gave china access to technology, materials, design and experience to several of it's country men who lived here.
because of it's political posture, what it could not procure directly or import , it got them through the places.

the restriction are imposed as materials are importedd and exported into SEZ without paying any customs duty. is it necessary to provide free accees to every tom dick and harry?

"We want democracy, but this kind of democracy is fascism." pl. suggest an alternate form and tell us where it is practiced.

why r u taking these ladies so seriously? they should be ignored. Democracy has its follies but is so far the best available form of gevernment and the democracy in our country is in one of its best forms. these ladies like this Aruna, Arundhati Medha and their chamchas who try to create a mountain out of mole hills are mere aberrations

I feel that we need the safeguards against possible aberrations in a democratic set-up. So, there must be watchdogs and critics. However, it does appear that people like Aruna Sen are overdoing things.

Why publishing such atricles
by bharat on Oct 19, 2009 01:13 PM

Ignoring the good and better parts these ladies are just seeing the bad parts only, they just need to need fame and media attention. Like Medha patekar these ladies also may have hidden interests paid by anti Indian foreign interests to stop progress of India and our developments.
Why she too much worried about the benefits given to ZES, instead seeing the benefits once the industries comes there.
Thousands of people will get direct employment.
Many thousands get indirect jobs.
Thousands get supporting business surrounding Zes.
All surrounding area will develop.
Good roads and infrastructure will change entire area.
Apart from all this exports creates lot of foreign money income.

Some peoples are the real enemies of India, but they come out like Aruna Roy or Arundathi Roy or Medha Patekar and acting like supporting poor, but they are real enemies of poor and our Nation.

SEZ ACT - STEP MOTHERLY
by Anoopam Modak on Oct 19, 2009 12:58 PM

If the Special Economic Zones Act 2005 contravenes the Fundamental Rights enshrined in the Constitution of India, then the Act needs to be declared Ultra Vires. The Fundamental Rights are the BASIC STRUCTURE of the Constitution of India as held by The Hon'ble Apex Court, while delivering in the landmark judgement, in the Keshavananda Bharti Case, and cannot afford to be diluted by any Act or Statute.

The battle for Rs 51,000-cr Indian fighter deal
• Images: 3000 Indian kids die of malnutrition daily
Given above are two titles in today's rediff news. The people responsible may be religions or rulers in Delhi, Islamabad or Washington. Patriotic Indians should sit down , think and fix responsibility and act, rather than raise anti-China jingoism.

The only way to save India's downtrodden is to give them some education of the three R's and also some ideas of the French Revolution kind, about freedom, equality, science, reasoning, and so on.

Education does not mean passing the Indian School Certificate Exams. Just making a person able to satisfy curiosity by reading, may be taking help of nearby people to explain the meanings, etc., is enough to begin with. Let such education not get tied down by Cement, Concrete or Budget considerations, which in fact are merely the excuse to prevent spread of education.

Education of that kind needs no buildings, no teachers,no budget, no Govt. support at all. It only needs those who are willing to seize and practically kidnap the uneducated by the scruff of their miserable necks, tell them some sort of elementary education, and let them off again.
There need not be a syllabus or a time table. Let educating be done like a Crime, without rigid style, schedule, or uniformity.

It is feasible and sufficient, except for the motivation to do educate everyone, for which unfortunately no one has found how to get it.

Its High Time
by Nonviolent on Oct 19, 2009 11:26 AM

Its High Time that India addresses the rich and poor divide.

Open more schools in slums and villages. Education may not bring employemnet, but it certainly brings awareness.

Education enpowers the poor about their rights

I am the proof that good education can change the life and the perception towards life

Mr Sidharth Kuncalienker, Your hopes are hopeless as this Aruna Roy is another Megha Patekars like people who get fund again from the same seen known hands to who want to slave India as they have been doing since their east India company came for trade and slaved India. SEZ and Aruna like people are their hidden names: Mukhavata of Vikas!

Poor fellow.. industrialization will require land as it has taken in other countries like in Europe, where available land is even less. Crying for what needs to be sacrificed will keep our country poor .. as it was.. its getting out of its centuries old poverty now.. dont make it go back again
