Air India doomed!
by Cyril Pereira on Jul 21, 2009 12:11 PM  | Hide replies

IA &AI were doomed long time ago.The entire staff are a huge burden. They have been milking the AI/IA cows dry over a long sustained period. The top management, trade unions,Admin officials/reps of Govt. & other cronies & political chamchas have treated these as their free milk dispensing fountains.Tatas will not come anywhere near this half dead set up.The govt must declare a lok out, & sell all assets by public auction. These Airlines have earned a poor reputation by their own deeds. It is not amenable to be 'revived' by the Govt. There needs to be a massive Enquiry into the ill gotten wealth assemled by the various employees, supervisors,Admin staff, managers,contractors,caterers...above all people at the upper echelons. The should be made to pay back every Rupee illegally made!

Airlines and safety
by vindia on Jul 21, 2009 12:01 PM  | Hide replies

In this year alone there have been more than 30 accidents, some ofthem happening in mid air while on cruise, which make the problem really crictical. I feel that airlines are concentrating more on entertainment and interior comfort, than adding any additional safety measures(like able to land & float on water, more radar locations and so on). Also the low cose airlines makes it even difficult by forcing others to use old unsafe planes to maximize the profit. I will prefer fling in a really safe plane even if ir comes at an additional cost

Better to have a pilots license too. You never know when you might need it.

Suggest that Mr. Lalu Prasad should be made CEO of Air India and we could see a turnaround in AI fortunes

we have seen quite a few public money looting institutions shutting down, and they are replaced by efficiently run institutions. just recall hmt is out of market, only to be replaced by titan. let air india close the doors, lock out, hand over their entire infrastructure to efficient managements and no one will miss air india.

DESERVES
by bunty on Jul 21, 2009 11:55 AM  | Hide replies

Once (a few years back) I lost my Air ticket in the Delhi airport and when immedkiately approached, the Indian Air Lines Management told me (1) to buy a new ticket at full cost (2) to go out of airport to the nearest Police Station and file FIR about my lost ticket giving all details like number etc., How do I remember ticket number ??. I am not from Delhi. Just imagine, my plight without sufficient money and in those days there were no Credit Cards. I had to borrow the money to continue my journey from somebody known to me, a co passenger. .. Even today after so many years, no refund no communication, though they know well, on verification, nobody traveled on that ticket. why they cannot give back the refund of Rs 11,000/-? on my lost ticket during this long period? Is it no money for them ? They looted public with high fares/ costs and also swallowing money by giving no refunds timely.. Even today I have the receipt given by them in token of my complaint in a frame on the wall.. No refunds. It is not missing the flight, it is sheer normal misplacing the ticket which commonly happens.. Therefore, NO RETURN to NORMALCY to them. Hats Off to the Competitors who broke their fatty or swollen back of MONOPOLY. They deserve it.

Shocking News !
by sanath on Jul 21, 2009 11:53 AM  | Hide replies

News is just out on ibn and other sites that ex-president Abdul Kalam was made to take off his shoes and made to wait before he was frisked at the Delhi Airport by staff of Continental Airlines, in spite of objections raised by CISF.

According to protocol, along with presidents, vice presidents and PMs, ex-presidents are also exempted from security checks.

This is really shameful and I hope the govt takes the appropriate steps to see to it that an uncoditional apology is tendered.

It is not possible for next 100 years. Man you see the behavior of the staff right from the check in counter till you leave the aircraft at your destination. So rude and they behave like they are doing a favor on you. Take my words, very soon there would be scarcity of passengers for Air India. I have flown Air India once in Nov 2007 (FRA-BOM-FRA) and never since then. I save my money and always fly Lufthansa even if it is couple hundred Euro more.
