Stop operations to US/UK
by Dhanamjaya S on Jul 21, 2009 11:13 AM  | Hide replies

Air India is sponsored by
Gulf and Singapore sector passengers. Here, the flights are always full, seating is crampy, service is poor and comparative fare is very high.
For example, air fare of Dubai/Other gulf countries to Chennai(approx 3hrs flying time)is around Rs. 25,000(return), whereas the return fare for New York is around 50000 Rs. (approx. 24 hrs one way flight). The ATF(air fuel) used is about 8 times. Also, the flights have very low occupancy.

Privatise the Airline 100%
by Hoti gupta on Jul 21, 2009 11:05 AM  | Hide replies

Best thing is to privatise the company under Tatas with no Link to Aviation Ministry. Praful Patel has created a mess.

Not Praful Patel but the Indian Tradition of Corruption in the guise of Reservation, Horse - Trading, First Preference for Relatives/ Friends/ Acquaintances etc etc during Appointments has turned Air - India into a ghetto. Until this mess is enquired & cleared up, not even the Sun - God (who has been depicted by Air - India as oit's symbol) can save it from crumbling flat.....

Let Air India become history...
by Ravi on Jul 21, 2009 11:02 AM

Air India should die a natural death. With it will die a lot of other curse like the union issues, reservation system, government stakes to top the list. Reviving Air India is like fighting cancer, the more it lives the more the suffering for the tax payers. At least passengers can expect something better after this nightmare called "Air India". A company with big talks and no action. Time to be realistic and not jingoistic.

Praful Patel's ultimate aim is to sell AI aircraft and AI bldg at Nariman Point to his close friends as scrap so that he can get kick back as they did in case of 2 Centaur hotels.

Praful Patel must have got the money as kickbacks for placing huge orders for aircraft for AI and IA. If he has some shame, he should quit on his own.

Simple solution
by waste cricket on Jul 21, 2009 10:58 AM  | Hide replies

The solution to bail out AIr India is simple.
Just close the company, send all those arrogant, irresponsible, inefficient, highly-pampered ground and cabin crew home and those old, most unattractive air hostesses will automatically go home to look after their kitchens.

Here individuals do not matter as the company has been moulded into present form with all those unions, strikes, high salaries and perks etc with absolutely no work culture. Their arrogance is byproduct of their monopoly earlier when there was no private airlines in Indian sky.
The minister however efiicient or inefficient would not be able to make much of a difference in such scenario.

Sell Air India
by Harshit Saxena on Jul 21, 2009 10:50 AM  | Hide replies

Bull Shit!
Air India must be sold out. Government has no business to be in Civil Aviation. Treat all airlines in India like Jet, Spicejet, Indigo, Goair, Paramount, MDLR are national airlines. No civlised country on earth has a government run airline, on tax payer's money.

Exactly, if the working capital requirements of a company is higher than the annual turnover of the company year after year, then the company has no right to operate in any business, forget about civil aviation which is not at all a priority sector.
