13.4% inflation..GDP growth -3.5% - these couple of stats make them the fourth most innovative nation ? This country went bankrupt recently.. bc2MX. Rediff needs to come up with a new slide-show to define innovation..
The given top 10 countries are not innovative in science and technology. The Head line of the subject should be the most free market around the world to do business. This may be appropriate.Rediff should think before giving such things online.
See the sizes of these countries and their wealth accumulation. India have a foreign exchange reserve of around 263 billion USD, and these countries are not far behind in them. Seeing the total geographical area of country, The manpower within the country the ratio is meagre. Also corrupt politicians also has eaten up a lot of money before their previous regimes and put into swiss banks. Indian politicians believe in making others happy but made own people to suffer ..what an irony ...
1. Our politicians find innovative excuses when they are caught in scams and bribes - most common excuse is 'conspiracy by political opponents'. 2. Our administration is very innovative when responding to natural calamities such as floods or disasters. They always say 'we are ready' and then blame some other department. 3. Our IMD is very innovative - they use Yahoo! Weather services for forecasts. 4. Our economists are very innovative - prices of commodities have gone 2-fold, yet inflation is negative! 5. Our film makers are innovative. They openly ape Hollywood and say 'we have not copied, just adapted!'

Further to add on our politicians have invnted a new way of misusing fundstax payer's money with Maya leading them from front
For the country which invented the zero, the martial arts, 4 of the 8 major religions, earliest forms of surgery, u cant say india was never innovative.
Only brains are not enough, u need funds, education, politics free enivironment, govt support etc to innovate.
Five years back india was even lower on the list. and india will go up in the future
The more developed any country is, the more innovation is possible by it. this applies to all the countries.
Thats the reason all developed countries top the list.

further we are innovative in producing one australia every year within our population that too when talking about sex in open is ban, in front of elders is ban, marring to someone of your choice is ban
imagine if all thease bans were not there how innovative we would have been in this sector
indians are not at all innovatives. tell me how many indian names have appeared in physics, chemistry, maths, zoology, botany books. and then tell about innovatives. you talk about prestigious IIT, but those also are teaching syllabus laid down by british? indians are only good at copying and pasting? who reaches moon first? who reached mars first? who invented atom, ion, electron etc? who discovered medicines on various diseases? how manay metal in Periodic table invented by indians? do you have explanation?

I think you have mis-understood . Being Innovative has nothing to do with being scientists or inventing something. If you see the list , No. 1 is singapore , have you heard about anything invented by a Singaporean Scientist? Same applies with Finland , there are no scientists.
