Five years back india was even lower on the list. and india will go up in the future.

Why are you talking about inventions from centuries ago? This is about most INNOVATED nations. Not which nation has most inventions.
Which nations can produce most inputs and outputs of innovative ideas in modern society. India failed to keep up right after 0, which was centuries ago.

Most of the countries listed are having population even lesser than any major city of India say Bombay or Delhi. This comparison is comparison of a country equal to a city say (Delhi) with whole of India. I do agree with corruption and political problems in India, but that does not mean that Indians are not innovative.

indians are not at all innovatives. tell me how many indian names have appeared in physics, chemistry, maths, zoology, botany books. and then tell about innovatives. you talk about prestigious IIT, but those also are teaching syllabus laid down by british? indians are only good at copying and pasting? who reaches moon first? who reached mars first? who invented atom, ion, electron etc? who discovered medicines on various diseases? how manay metal in Periodic table invented by indians? do you have explanation?

India is not an innovative nations as per science , technology and other sectors are concerned. Here researchers are considered as beggars (people even don't want to give marraige with their daughters/sisters with them). It's really sad but it's the truth and entire responsibility goes for this to the Indian Govt. A triffling percentage of budget is allocated to R&D facilities. Until and unless this is reveresd India can't grow really.
