If we improve our standard of service, nothing can happen.
by bihari babu on Mar 17, 2008 08:47 AM

We have to realise that today world is growing at jet speed. Now customer service has changed to customer delight. Exceed customer's expectation. If we train our service executive to excel every day in the quality of output he produces, there is no way out sourcing can go away from india. Infact it will increase since india has millions of english, computer literate like no other nation. But we have to keep our eye on future focused and keep traning our staff with best tech, facility available thats all.

Indian IT Service Sector Is In the Verge of a Major Collapse
by Praveen George on Mar 17, 2008 12:49 AM

Many rediff readers especillay employees from service sector are under the impression that they have a lifelong career in the Service Outsourcing business. It is a lie and treachery thatn Indian Service Companies floated around to make quick money. The traditional indial lust towards money and power is visible in it most unabashed forms in the Service business. The service business are highly temporal in nature
1)The service industry was born out of a transitioning economy. Developed economies wanted to offload their old systems and get into new technologies and migrate into newer systems . The newer systems require less maintenance and is better architected for future needs. The advent of tools/frameworks/machineries has lessened the human power required to monitor/manage these systems. Indian programmers/mangers in Service Sector companies would be soon thrown to the dogs as they are no longer required. When i first started my career customer support services in US would use human operators to handle their support calls. Now they use IVR systems to handle their calls. The call centre industry was born during this transition between human operators and IVR systems. This is going to happen everywhere, america and europe are doing only onething now, that is automating their systems so they won't need to depend on thirld world for labour.Get the hell out from your service sector companies and start doing something on your own if you need to survive, ad advice as a friend

MISLEADING INFO BY Sramana Mitra
by Rajkumar Singh on Mar 15, 2008 11:31 PM

THE ARTICLE IS MISLEADING - he argues that cost of outsosurcing is going up and so it is rendered useless (over a period of time) from cost point of view - and suggests that cheaper alternatives/options are available which will lead to end(Death)of outsourcing of jobs to India

Mr Mitra needs to educate himself - this is 21st century - the IT field particularly software development has now reached a stage where we have begun to invent - the thinking part not executing part as done earlier - though it remains an important aspect even today and will remain so for another ten years - as it employs bulk of work force - because we depended on ppl with degrees in maths and electrical engg etc - we had no IT or computer educated/qualified ppl - the shortage is all over the world in this category - a global shortage - you need language skills and maths - most difficult combination - IT computer field is extension of maths not engg - also it uses hardware of electronic origin - where the microchip IC designs are again manipulated for new functiions using software - there is shortage of ppl with masters degree in maths - engg - and computers consequently - also shortage of teachers - you need to replace the workforce and u need trainers - the whole set is endless - so it going to be green grass for IT field - more so because you again need ppl to maintain the systems - where is the end - i see all growth - in fact there will be shortage in India of skilled ppl for indian needs - the

IT Market India
by on Mar 12, 2008 10:35 PM

Yes the truth is cost advantage of India in outsource is reducing and has reduced substantially. And China is into horizon; however this does not mean an end for India IT Outsourcing. But be prepared for delivery value for money and demonstrate that Outsourcing in India is wise decision.

So with all those days of boom boom rise, very soon or rather now market is stabilized and will not be boom but sustain.

Any thoughts, please contribute...

Pal.
