Be aware of Such Panic-Spreaders...
by Gaurav on Mar 03, 2008 08:58 PM  | Hide replies

What a awful reasoning:
Assuming a 15% year-to-year salary hike rate, ndia's cost advantage disappears by 2015
Is there salary hike in India only??? Others are just watching us??
Such macro-economic things balance themselves properly. When there is need, the raise will slow down or accomodate itself.
And it is not just the cost-advantage, "Hardworking", "Time-Difference", "Intelligence" and "Attitude" are few to name that are giving high paid jobs to Indians.

Gaurav,

You are very sadly mistaken, Indians are neither hard working, Time difference manning guys, ok yes agreed, Intelligence ???, yes sure - in making bills and Attitude - very raw attitude Indians have.

If they have to work, their grand mother dies, but salary - yes, it should get credited on 31st Night.

reality will dawn on Indians soon, but it doesnt mean that it will go for good, there will be job slump and the competition that organisatiosn face currently will be reversed to candidates.

Slump is sure to come, the over confidence that indian employees show in terms of attrition - this needs a correction.

Jobs are too easy to come by for now and even the black sheep have the jaws to spell jaw dropping salaries - this situation is really hilarious - we have shifted operations to south asian countries.

And I heard some guys on my flight between KL and SIN that they are seeing an advantage in setting up call centres in Malaysia, because the english is good and mind you - the salaries are 800 - 900 ringgits (9000 - 11000) as compared to double in India.

Ofcourse it's awful reasoning!!!! Where else you will find in the world such a huge pay hikes?? For eg. Developed countries like US and Germany see a hike of around 2-3% only. So obviously the cost advantage will be lost after a few years, may be 2015!!!! What hardwork these body shoppers do? What intelligence these copy cats have???? Attitude, least applicable word to In....s. Work with Germans and Americans, you will get to know what the word Attitude means and how they behave with others at the work place!!!!

Don't decieve yourselves and don't refrain from accepting the truth. Atleast now the big cats should think how the whole industry can be transformed from a process oriented to a product oriented before the jobs move out to low cost countries such as Philippines and Thailand.

Wakeup and act immediately rather than blaming the rupee appreciation!!!

Totally agree with you MANAV and GAGAN. Me working in UK here and all you see is groupism(statemanship?? I am talking about Indian states), 'loud' gossip in the middle of the day, while all the English speak is work related and share gossip either at the waterhole or during the ends of days!! No wonder, we have been always adjudged to be the 'workers' and given all 'odd' jobs to do...and believe me most of them are content because all they think is 'it is less work more money than in India'.

Truly said...Customers do the thinking, Indians only do the executing, and that too shoddily. Adhering to quality is met with so much of objection, that I in fact thought of quitting this onsite opportunity many times, but just wanted to return after 'completing' my tenure.

Yes, it is very very tough to fight soon with these qualities and even the numbers reflect the downslide. People do all the nonsense and then when things come to fore, quit the company which bears the brunt. The culprit makes some serious money and then using the 'UK return' tag jumps to an even better post. Well, something has to give way dude and sometime it has to!!

The coming death of Indian outsourcing
by on Mar 03, 2008 08:57 PM

There is partial truth in this.
a) Yes the salaries are increasing but then Infosys and Wipros of the world are opening offices in 2nd tier cities.
b) The salaries in these companies are not increasing by such percentages. Infact Infosys has decreased the per diems given to people traveling abroad. This will help the bottom line.

c) They are going for large accounts and fixed price projects wherein the profitability factor rests on the vendor and not client. This has called for coming up with efficiency in the way work is performed like having inbuilt re-usable libraries to decrease the cost of production.

d) Stress is on having a complete problem solution provider (end to end) and not just IT solution provider.

e) Analytics is the next area of growth where most of the big guns are moving since simple web solutions are no longer profitable. This has made the service differenciation possible and not to treated as mere commodity.

What impact can USs' new president have on our outsourcing ?
by royce cheereth on Mar 03, 2008 08:55 PM

Hi guys,

Just imagine the bugger Obama getting elected as the next US president. He is strictly against outsourcing Jobs to India and China. Won't that effect our outsourcing strategies. We need to get a troubleshooting plan in place before it happens.
What do you say ??????

NDA had put india on global map by promoting IT in a big way and created lakhs of jobs to the frustrated indian youth in IT sector and outsourcing.

what has cong done in last 4 years-

1.destruction of IT and outsourcing.

2.suicide of farmers.

3.out of control inflation(have you seen ibn7 today?

4.destruction of common man's faith in all possible institutions.

5.division of india on regional ,religion and caste base.

6.completely anti poor and middle class finance minister .

7.4 times price of real estate.

8.poor internel security.

etc etc.......
please throw cong out otherwise be prepared for another round of slapping and kicking of middle class by cong and p . chidambaram. for again next 4 years.

if you are impressed by budget please read the following:

whom the fm is trying to fool?too little too late

1.what about the exorbitant prices of consumer goods?

2.what about the 4times price of real estate?

3.what about the social security?

4.what about the new loans taken by the small farmers?they are forced to take loans due to poverty.what about eliminating middlemen.

5.what about exorbitant prices of almost everything, cement etc.

6.what about looting of common man by the companies.

7.what about the unemployment?pm rozgar yojna's 99% money ended in corruption by ministers and officials.

8.what about service tax on each and everything.
(soon on walking,talking,having sex etc.)

only by pardon

i know, RG is often credited with all the dreams. i agree he might have been a very good dreamer but unfortunately, none of those dreams were realised by him. It took the NDA govt to actually realise those dreams because they did somehting more than dreaming - they 'did' it..

The story is ill researched and fake. For east Europeans to compete they have to revamp their educational sysytem to English, which they will never do. What about the time difference of nearly 12 hours for overnight service ??? There is no dearth of people who predict that earth will end in next decade !!!???

RE:Outsourcing
by Kaushik Das on Mar 03, 2008 11:17 PM
No, it's not. Remember, not too long ago, russia used to be a powerhouse. It is again surging. So, dependence of English is never the criterion. For that matter, Indians are going to China and working. English is hardly used there. Eastern European nations (even western - they hardly understand English in Spain and France) will get lots of opps if russia improves. For that matter, even indians will.

The time difference of 12 hours is only for US businesses. And they can any day employ malaysians on the one hand and Europeans on the other to cover all the time difference.
