Facts and its analysis

Rediff should have given the way the index is calculated. That would bring in more clarity in the analysis and also form a basis for healthy discussion. Especially the assumptions behind the calculations are very important for any analysis.

All sarkari figures are cooked up lies
by Prof R K Gupta-India on Sep 17, 2007 11:07 PM  | Hide replies

Any house wife can tell by looking at her hisaab diary of 1990 and now that there has been on an average 15-25 % increase per annum simple rate except for electronics which became cheaper due to striking technology changes. Fact remains since 1992 10 crore people have gone down poverty line and stupid poverty line defined by sarkari babus is fals, big joke,.mockery and fraud with nation.

India is not at At all democracy and a farcical banana state where 200 people are killed every day by security forces or terrorist fighting battle of ego against each others.
The corruption rte now is almost 90% that is 9 out of all officials including lower judiciary are cheap, unproducitve an d corryupt guys. No comment son cheap politicians in power. They are a crap and need to be crushed. Property prices in last 5 years have gone by 400% percent to 250 % at almost place not only big cities. House is now out o reach of common man. More corrupt and scoundrels are becoming ,millionaires billionaires and trillionaries. Is this reforms and liberalisation? Congress must be wiped out from political scene by people as mahatma desired after independence.

India's inflated inflationary figures
by guruprasad venkatakrishnan on Sep 17, 2007 08:42 PM  | Hide replies

Inflation is at 3.54%. No Idiot would accept this figure.Without any shame, government is publishing this figure for the sake of stock markets which have been rigged by cabinet minister. There is going to be big gap between Rich and Poor in coming days. Indians would definitely see ugly side of the situation. In this situation only rich people could survive and average indians can't get help from any source. No one seems to take care of this situation. But these folks are speaking as if India is going to be king of 21st century in coming years.

U should know that the Inflation figure of 3.54% is an average(net) figure and need not be practical in individual cities. Get your basics right..

Roy,

It is very ironic that you bong-dongs are all communists and yet study economics.

But contribute nothing more than hot air!

guruprasad is right. You don't need to be a PhD. in economics to look at prices of basic commodities and lnow that you are getting screwed!!

Reason for Inflation in Smaller Cities
by Shyam Kumar on Sep 17, 2007 08:11 PM

People who are working in Metro, turn into smaller cities to invest which may be their native, which indeed turns up the property values of the smaller cities.
