in 20 years, indians will be the biggest illegal immigrants to neighbouring countries- nepal, bhutan and pakistan...

so start packing your bags...

there is nothing worth looking forward to here.. we have missed the chance to make it big.. thanks to our politicians, whom we elect..

Stop politicicng evrything!!!! Think Merit & facts
by S Narain on Sep 01, 2007 04:27 PM

I wonder When We Indians stop politicising everything under the sky....
Politics in everyhing .., is a strange mindset of Indians , is like a genetic disease like diabetes for example
The sooner ,we get rid of it ,the better for our society. Politis is the biggest enemy of merit.

When we say politics ,it simply means we are considering anything without merit.
In 21 st century , any govt, society can not survive with this sickness of politicing everything . POliticisation is not only against the merit but also means falsehood.
If Indian mind is political ,means it does not value merit and truth!!
Does that really mean ,we are dishonest. We do not respect the truth & merit.
Do we think that we can progress at all modern world if we have political approach!!! .
I think ,gradually Indians will be apolitical , as they become more globalised. This approach can not work in modern day world based on technology and science.
Only Indian leftist would work like this ,when even Russians ,Chinese, Vietnmese have changed & no more like our leftist fellows.
May be we all see the need for change and not continue to have a politicised thinking!!!

cut the middleman out

History is repeating. This time it's not the East India Company,it,s in the form of Walmart etc.A basic necessity, vegetables, grocery etc is going to be controlled by them. Does Ambani need to sell vegetables and Tata sell salt, not in India.

There is some logic here, though in terms history. The basic vegetables, grains should be traded, accumulated, rejected freely. Reliance, Communists, socialists, walmarts etc shouldn't have more power to dictate these things.

Reliance and walmart do a lot of good to consumption of these things, no doubt about that. But is worth the effort if people manage their own food with mutual understanding, local conditions .

The concern is that, socialists will manage it, if reliance is driven out.

reliance gave india chinese knock-off moble phones and got away with it. it used wireless telephony to sneak into GSM business. Wal Mart used the same tactics and hence it was prosecuted for business malpractices in every state of america.but that won't happen in india so here the corporations will get away with murder and no one will book them.

How many murders Reliance is responsible so far.
Also I ask why you guys are after Reliance.
Why Not Subhiksha,Spensor, Godrej Retail, Food Bazzar etc.

For you Info Reliance planted 1 lach Mango Tree in Jamnagar Refinery ( 500 acre plot) Sold Mangoes to Harrods UK.

UK has no problem buying Relaince Mango, but You have!!.
For your info Jamnager was water scarce area and Reliance Converted Sea water to Potable water and supplied it to Mango trees as well as Jamnager Municipality also.

Will Commies do that / will Local Baniya do all this / Was Relaince Cheating ???

You guys are either ignorant ou want to fool the public.

Also in TN some two bit politician ramdas or ramdev is agitating against retail. He says people loose jobs. How funny! He made middlemen employees. He never bothered abt ppl or their oppartunity to buy at cheaper prices.

As long as middlemen and two bit politicians make an alliance, even govt is hesitent to enforce law and order. See Mayawati! She wanted the retail out. First she makes her party men attack retail, then she bans retail saying law and order problem.

stir against reliance
by bahmophet on Sep 01, 2007 03:58 PM  | Hide replies

the points to ponder;
netas will lose hawkers, from whom they get hafta to sit on the road and pester all.
big chains mean controlled sales, any thing like this is anathema to our netas who thrive on chaos and disruption.
AND FINALLY, MAKING MONEY IS BAD, BUT ONLY NETAS CAN DO SO AND THAT TOO ILLICIT BLACK MONEY.
PEOPLE CAN BE POOR, AS IT IS EASIER TO CONTROL POOR THAN WELL OFF ONES.
AND OF COURSE, THE CUSSEDNESS OF THIS NETAS AND BABUS.
LESS SAID THE BETTER.

people deserve the leaders they get.Either way these hawkers get killed by the cars of the neo-rich,their jobs taken away by an elitist judicary, and driven away from their homes because their neighbours will not let them drink the water from the community well.So the fault lies not on netas but on the self serving attitude which always is abundant in India.

whatever the noises one makes about the necessity of nuclear deal,it can't be denied that USA needs more screws in Indian subcontinent and India will be like a swissknife for yankees, much like the British India when it was a sponge getting squeezed up near Thames. As they say those who don't learn from history, keep on repeating it.

the father of retail is wal-mart and its ancestors lived in america.n-deal is a retail market where india likes to shop now.even now if u don't see the connection then have a mac aloo tikki.it will open ur eyes and wallet too,but it will happen only if there is something between ur eyes and i am not talking about a large bindi.

Liberalization
by Altaf Rahman on Sep 01, 2007 03:53 PM  | Hide replies

Why some sections are against retails?
They are afraid they loose the age old custom of looting people. Politicians support them coz they are sensationalized issues. They mislead ppl to believe that retail is some kind of demon. Let them set up shop. If you dont want to buy there, dont buy. Let everybody have a choice to buy where they want. Dont force everybody to buy on footpath. Middlemen can not dectate terms to Indian growth.

This is typical loosers philosophy. You assumed that RIL failed in so and so and they will fail in so and so and u think RIL will fall and die. You know what? Next thing you wake up to see that RIL retail is next to your home.

Retail Business
by sunny p jacob on Sep 01, 2007 03:49 PM

It is ironical that we scream against corporates entering retail business. If you look at all the developed countries, you will find major chain retailers as well as local corner shops. Where will you go to buy your daily milk and bread? Drive to a super market or the corner shop next to your house? There is space for everybody. It is high time the people decide how to improve their life style. Don't leave it to politicians to decide for you.
