Paying them at par with those at private sectors employees is not something wrong but do you think that even after doing this, the corruption will decrease. May be for a few months or a few years but again the thinking that "chodo na yaar tumhe kya pada hai, tumhe to fix salary mil rahi hai na" might crop up in their mind.

Who told you that the incresae in salary is to offset their lively hood, At present they are unable to compete with pvt sector bcz they don't have white money and they can't declare their ill gotten money in the form of bribes and dowry. That is the reason why govt comes to their rescue.
The IAS is curse of India. Permamnet babus with no real work except lording over. IAS must be retired if failed to perform strictly as per crieterias set or becoming ill and not fit and must beposted every alternate year in north east hills, J&K. Then give them a salary of private sector. BETTER ASK THEM TO send their CV to private sector, see whether they are employed even as clerks with their abilities.......

Hi, We have a lot of wrong notions about the IAS being an elite service.This includes a misconception that they are the brightest of the lot.The fact is,once a guy clears IAS his life is made.He does not have to do anything to become at least a joint secretary.They just mint money and never gets caught because they are hand in gloves with the politicians.IAS promotions should be made selection based like defence services or private sectoe and salaries should remain the same.If a person is corrupt when he gets 18000,will still be corrupt if he gets 18 lakhs.

no pay hike.give them price parity.a dm got 700 rs. in 1912 when a servant was available for rs.one a month.what do you pay now.
There is no derth of qualified and skilled persons to handle the administrative works of the government in the present day indian labour market. If the Babus want pay packet in terms of private sector executives, let them go and join that sector. Further, if we quantify the oppertunity costs of the non monetary aspect of the government job like the security, accountability ( which is entirely absence in governemnt servants), the status in the scoiety, the power enjoyed, time devoted in office etc, the babus are in far better position than their counter parts in the private sector. Although the country has been registering a high GDP growth of about 8-9% p.a. since couple of years, the employment in government sector has been virtually stopped for which most sufferers are the recent college leaving students. So, instead of raising the government expentidure in form of enhancing the babus' pocket, the additional expenditure may be incurred in generation of new employment.The employment may not been seen just as a burden in the exchequer but it is also the source of effective demend in the market which plays a accelerating role in augmenting not only the economic growth but also the social growth.
Inept Arrogant Saradonic, thats what these guys have reduced a glorious & coveted career.In return for this they need salaries comparable to private sector & without loosing perks.I think they must first start improving effeciency & productvity of civil services by making life in INDIA more civil & smooth.Neither rural nor urban life has a smooth sailing.Barring a few exceptional Officers like Arun Bhatia, Chandrashekhar, Khairnar we just do not get any honest & upright officers doing their work then why should government draw out a huge chunk of Taxes paid by common man to increace the salary of these guys? Any of the senior officers ready for debate?
Guys, about 5% of you guys work sincerely towards development of the country,rest of you enjoy life along with the politicians with the bribes that you get from different kind of greedy people.If guys at corporate level get much higher salaries then you guys , they deserve it for their sincere efforts 24x7. You guys are provided with lots of other facilities worth lakhs of rupees for doing nothing.I repeat only 5% of you really do an excellant job.Others deserve NOTHING......
Hi, This move by the babus is only to legalise the corruption they resort to.Inspite of their pay being so less have you ever heard of any babu living in abject poverty?other than AP SINGH see the exemple of IPS officer virk of punjab and one tomin thachankary of kerala who resort to all sorts of illegal ativities
The gloriefied babu service that is IAS be scrapped forth with; caught in a time warp and status quoist attitudes they have become the real obliterators to all development. Forget about paying private sector salary and retaining perks and job security till old age to this remnants of British colonialism and old age feudalism.
