Why are you staying here? You are also a part of millions who makes the city dirty. Pls help to keep it clean & stop talking. It is the collective responsibilty of Government & Citizen to keep the city clean.

Your Government makes rules just for fun. For example bikers should wear a helmet but police does not catches them everyday but only when pockets are empty they do it. It shows that gorverment wants corruption.

That does not mean that you should make the place of living dirty.

Oh that's truly astonishing !!
How many do you really know who made a fortune with a handful of 'petty cash' ? Did you make a fortune with just petty cash for a beginning ? Perhaps the people of Dharavi and the residents of tens of thousands of chawls in Mumbai should consult you to escape what admittedly are lives of sheer drudgery ? Perhaps the residents of tens of thousands of low end flats too should rush to see you to seek relief ?
Or perhaps the ubiquitous mountains of human excreta that come on public display every morning along Mumbai streets and backyards are just some of those uniquely third world kind of manifestations of millions becoming affluent after starting off with just a 'handful of petty cash' ?
Or would you argue that Dharavi and other such neighbourhoods in Mumbai are mere lifestyles that 'fortune winners' have willingly opted to adopt ?
True, a large number of people in Mumbai have gone from rags to riches. But perhaps the mode of fortune making in most such cases, i.e., through knavery (theft) of varying levels of sophistication, is also another manifestation of an 'emerging India' or an 'emerging third world' ??
It is said that a successful knave invariably acquires a conviction that his loot has been made through true enterprise, not by subversion of laws of the land. Perhaps, the Indian nation ought to legalise such 'enterprises' considering that the 'rest of the world', notably the multinationals investing in India and salivating at their investments just as their bosses sitting in western capitals would salivate at fattening pigs in their farms, looks on with 'admiration and approval' ???
I am from UK and as per the survey conducted here every year, Mumbai has ranked as 47th Expensive city of the world. London has surpassed NY and Tokyo in terms of the costliests city. Even when compared some of the cities of NCR region, Mumbai is still cheap then Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon where the cost of living is much high.

I'm from Delhi and currently living in Mumbai... There is no compaarision between Delhi n Mumbai... Mumbaiiii is faar more expensive... In NCR, you dont have to pay security for accomodation, a one month advance rent is enough. Plus a 2 BHK flat near sector 18, Noida (prime location) will be around Rs. 7000. Compare it with Mumbai: Andheri... A 1 BHK flat (kitchen is insignificant) will be around Rs. 8000-11000. Plus the security amount (minimum Rs 50000, if its a good society, then the security and rent would go up; security can go upto Rs. 1,50,000). Plus the brokerage.....
I was hard to believe at first. Comeon...half 80% of mumbai is slums. Rediff gives wrong news. The news probably was. Mumbai in terms of vada-pao, 7th most expensive city in the world and rediff carefully removed "in terms of vada-pao"

:)))) Pratap, you obviously are an ignoramus... it is not rediff that is saying this, it is PTI, the news service... but what else can we expect from an ignoramus

Do you know what is the cost of a 5X5 feet room in a mumbai slum. What a small hotel room in a mumbai suburb cost and compare it to the developed cities of asia, Bangkok, Kualalumpur, Singapore, Taiwan.. You will definitely believe that it is.

I dont think it is justified to call bangalore the Silicon valley of india. there is no R/D activity in bangalore on electronics. you may call it the software city i guess. but its a hellhole right now. no infrastructure and infested with autos and mobikes.

Atleast Bengaluru is not controlled by land mafias, Dawoods, Ketan Parekhs, Telgi and Thackerey-Senas! The weather is still the closest to comfortable in Urban India. Beer capital and the only city with 21st century attitude. 15 million crammed into narrow roads and 6 boggies of local train is not what is called infrastructure! If investors want infrastructure they will go to Shanghai. And to top it you cheap, slum-dwelling Mumbaikars will always blame your shitty place on North Indians! Of all the real estate bubbles in India only Chennai and B'lore will not burst since these are genuine price rises- others are mafia or neta controlled!
