ha ha haa... you should not enjoy the charity from others. When you are capable to be one among them.....
INDIA has at least 85 years of catching up to do even if it has to reach somewhere where present day Japan is!!!
A few billionaries, who stack all their money abroad is not going to help any of the millions, who can't even afford a basic human existence!!
I think by merely hyping up our so called growth, we are loosing focus of the bigger picture, where even now it is only a complete lack of infrastructure, disparity, hunger and absence of even the most basic amenities is what you see all around in the country.
Are we so senile that we can't even begin by maintaining basic cleanliness in our country country ?
If we remain busy in backslapping ourselves for the Ghost progress that we seem to have made, we will soon be left in the dungeons of missed opportunities and will be condemned for ages more!!!
WAKE UP INDIA ...GET REAL!! The world will not wait or be charitable , they will only PITY us !!
how does it help to show this list, also where are hollywood celebs and singers like elton john, michael jackson? anyway concentrating on india, my question is what have these rich guys done for india? how much money they have spent to support and help the downtrodden? Official indian govt. statistics for 2007 says 25% (33% in 2006)of indian's population lives below the poverty line. My question is do these rich guys help them out in any way or will they just keep on acquiring company X, Y and Z all over the world..!! or better buy land from Govt.(poor farmers)at dirt cheap price to set up another industry? What about the taxes they pay? and how much do they hide or bribe the indian politicians to have a smooth ride. One should look for answers for these questions. Com'on rediff support your list with answers to some of these questions!
I am tired of reading news articles on few rich Indians all the time, What difference it makes to India if only 36 people out of 110 crore on the world's richest people list?
Any data on poorest people list in India? Or where India stands in the list of poorest countries?

You will have all the people except those 36, politicians, close relatives of them.
No one deserves to hold on to so much wealth.. If they can use it to create more wealth its fine but I beleive the market should come up with mechanisms to allow this circulation of wealth amongst those who really need instead of glorifying these people...
What about that ali guy who has 35,000 crores....This list is a joke...they should also include gamblers, terrorist, drug lords,etc...Then we will see where some of them stand....

My dear it was Rs 5 lakhs in 1960's which was huge ammout of money even then.. Mittal has not built a single steel plant but only successfully cashed on plants built by others. He has not created wealth but only manipulated it in his favour.. His only qualification is buying sick steel plants and turning them around. Its unfortunate to see people like him accumulate so much wealth..

you have got to be more charitable to him. unlike private euity guys who gobble up good co.s he bought sth which nobody wanted to touch. for a comparison imagine you have an option to either set right a room completely messed up or just set up things from the start in that room. which one will you prefer??
Good to see that there are 36 person of India in the list. But question is here these richest people are involve in Development of India that can enable the dream of our Honourable President of India Mr. APJ Abdul Kalam for a Developed Country till 2020. If they will do it will happen. and India will be a Developed country befor 2020. Great India. Keep it up.
