Is this all India shining?
by Sreeram Ramaswamy on Mar 09, 2007 12:57 PM

Then, did the \"India shining\" slogan-shouting brigade imply only the above list of rich, richer, richest as opposed to the real India of 70% rural/poor people who day-in & day-out struggle to get two square meals a day even today.

Lets us stop cheating ourselves by priding over these superfluous and farcical slogans/image?

Sreeram

Ravi - most of the Indian super-rich people have done commendable public and charitable work also. And they have made their wealth by their own sheer hard-work and perseverence. There is nothing anyone can do regarding those who were born with silver-spoons.

That the gap between the rich and poor is increasing is another concern - and the govt should be blemed rightly for that. The Govt must ensure that the money that is spent on removal of poverty is indeed spent for the poor and not siphoned off by the politicians and corrupt beaurocrats.

Whether these people have earned it by themself or they are born capatalist.. it does not matter, these people are working towards it.. What ever your parents have will obviously come to you, it wont go to any other person..
They have the right to it..

this government seems to be working for nobody but votes. please don't resort to abusing the rich for being so, you can't make the poor rich by making the rich poor. just think of the jobs created by ambanis, and narayan murthys. governement's policies should encourage such people so that tomorrow we may have ten ambanis and narayan murthys.

This is really a great achievement by our Indians to secure a place in the World's Top Money Makers, but try to throw some light on the other side where people are becoming rich in no time and in a wrong path.... talking about none other than our "Politicians"... expose them to the media and the World so that they'll be answerable to the people of India about their assets, earning in a wrong way and stopping the growth of our Nation... there are hundreds of Billionaires in the form of Politicians.. request you to bring all of them in the limelight..... atleast they'll stop EATING GRASS !!

If we seriously try to unearth the huge fortunes stashed away by the Indian politicians in Swiss a/cs and other benami properties in India and abroad, it will put the Americans to shame. Recently the news channels are flashing news about 35,000 crore money amassed in two years and put away in Swiss accounts, is just the tip of the iceberg. Some of these politicians who have been in the 'business' of politics are worth more than the combined wealth of all the guys in the billionaire club. Nobody and I repeat nobody can ever beat an Indian Neta in wealth, health(they seem to live for eternity) and stealth. May god grant them immortality so that they can squeeze every drop of blood out of our bodies.
