The world's poorest people.
by sreenivasulu pitla on Apr 09, 2007 06:36 AM

Just for a change, how about listing world poorest people and talking about them. Even if you don't show light on world's richest they grow richer n richer. If for a change, this so called free press keep on talking about world's poorest, they will get focused and some thing good will be done for them and news articles will become worthy if they help rising the quality of the life of poor because of their news articles.
Rediff, please play some responsible media role instead of publishing news like how liz hurly's wedding go, when ash-abhi getting married.

PHILANTHROPISTS like WARREN deserve to be Number One
by indiantothecore on Mar 11, 2007 12:03 AM  | Hide replies

Forbes shud rank Billionaires according to the Economic impact their current/ongoing contribution/services and Philanthropic activities rendered for others. Not merely their Monetary worth which grants them the liberty to burn money for majorly their own personal profit.

The top Billionaires imo are:

1: Warren Buffett

2: Bill Gates

3: Azeem Premji

4: Lakshmi Mittal

and so on.

Those who have inherited Ready made businesses and are Heirs entitled to legacies and pre-owned fortunes do not deserve to be among the TOP 10. Every billionaire's personal contribution to an existing Empire needs to be evaluated to determine their true individual worth.

Ever wondered about:

- Mulayam Singh Yadav
- Laloo Yadav
- Jayalalitha
- JB Patnaik
- Telgi
- Dawood Ibrahim
- Bal Thackeray and family.

Any of these guys would easily qualify to be amongst the top ten

Indian Making it big on Forbes List
by Rohit Chandak on Mar 10, 2007 06:22 PM

I believe one thing which really makes you successful is to be failure in life or have nothing to loose. The only thing everyone of them had was big dream & confidence to do it.

Talk about LN Mittal, Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani, Narayanmurthy, Ramki etc....everyone had gone through hard time which made them realize what is important in life & made them come strong.

So never forget to take failure positively.

That is true. IF ppl like Mithal and the Ambanis rise above their constant GREED for personal profits and donate selflessly like Warren to serve Indians...India would benefit a lot from them. They could make a huge difference in the life of millions who need basic amenities.

Unfortunately they are preoccupied finding newer means to flaunt their Billions on personal agendas like weddings/birthday events, ott gadgets, personal estates and toys. Their contribution towards Donating selflessly for the good of others is minimal. It is a Shame.

There is a saying in Tamil " Thevaiku Mel Vaithiruppvan Thirudan "
Which, translated means " One who has more than what is needed for oneself is a Thief "
We may have lot many Indian billioners. But how does it affect our country's economy in any way? Will that show light to the 30% of our people BPL.
How many of these rich are contributing for the real upliftment of the poor sot in our country?
All this news is nothing more than celebrity cheering.
Will all these filtry rich jointly bring out a vehicle that will not depend on petrolium fuel, the main cause of India going down the drain?.
Will they come out with a technology that will provide employment to the thousnads of rural youth?

Really nice to seen an Indian in the top 5 (LNM). Indians raring to ahead is a good sign for the contry to become the biggest and strongest economy, in times to come.

There is nothing Indian about LNM but for his origin. Guess Indians will top the list in "trying to find" a reason to cheer!! Be it LNM or Sunita Williams...what have they done to India??? On the contrary we can Cheer he Ambani family for what they have done!
