Mr.Narayana Murthy heads a very remarkable organisation;Infosys.He has built this organisation from scratch and can justifiably take pride in its achievement as well as the manner in which this was achieved. But sadly, the sincerity and honesty so essential for building a just, humane and civil society is absent in most societies or at least on the verge of extinction. The family,which is central to building such a society is itself in danger.Values of transparancy, fairplay, kindness, tolerance do not carry any value in the economic life whether to earn a living or doing business.Such people are treated as cranks, and eccentric persons and have to suffer much deprivation, ridicule and eventual frustration. Since ethical behaviour by definition is open and does not lend itself to cleverness and stratagem, people following these values do so at an enormous cost to themselves, sometimes even risking their lives. Like Gandhiji, it is truly remarkable that Mr Narayan Murthy has achieved without compromising his ethical values.But alas, the experiment was not repeatable in the case of Gandhiji.It remains to be seen if the ways of Infosys are repeatable in the entire society.
The speech of Mr Narayana Murthy of Infosys was superb which I feel should be read and practised by everyone especially those running and working in the Government. Because right from the day,one is born till his death that person has to have some ineraction or the other with these people who are supposed to help the society and make living easier. I wish the speech of Mr Narayana Murthy is widely published in all leading Newspapers of all languages in India and copies are distributed in every school and college. His speech is very similar to what Swamy Vivekananda had advised his countrymen long ago which sadly has been forgotten by many who wants to lead a cushy life at all costs.
