What Taj means to me...
by pranab banerjee on Oct 26, 2017 01:02 PM

No Spiritual quotient. Absolutely not.
No music of soul or beauty of Nature.
Nothing to elevate my psyche.
No strain of poetry as some claim.
A beautiful architecture of tombs no doubt.
Like the Pyramids of Egypt.
Expression of everything VULGAR-Grandeur, Power, Wealth, exploitation, slavery, brutality, oppresion, an expression of a lower vital form of love.
Cannot accept it as a 'pratik' of hoary Indian culture.

British rule was golden era in Indian History!

1. British unified over 550 princely states into a single entity.
2. They ended Moslem domination in India and liberated Hinddus from 1000-year long subjugation that led to the rise of Hinddu intellectual class who could eventually fight for the freedom of India.
3. British rule prevented India from becoming a BarbaricIslamicState by ending forced conversions to Izzlam.
4. British built excellent dams, bridges, railways, roads, etc which unheard in the rest of Asia (during 19th century).
5. British opened many universities and colleges in India, which helped Hinddus to rise as an intellectual class.
6. British introduced English helped India to become a software superpower in the world today.
7. British rule considerably weakened the barbaric caste-system, even though remnants of the system remain. Even superstitions decreased to a great extent.
8. Due to better medical services, death rate dropped and life-span increased.
9. Railways, postal services, modern education, English medicine, etc rapidly improved the standards and quality of life.
10. It is a myth spread by deceivers that Indian economy was 27% of world economy is 1700. India was much poorer at that time.
11. HHindus were living under complete subjugation of Mozlems. British rule gave great religious freedom to HHindus
12. British rule altogether gave a new direction to Indians who were mired in ignorance, superstitions, caste-barbarity and opened an era of modern

It was the English education introduced by British that enlightened people that opened their eyes which eventually led to freedom struggle. British rule has been 1000 times better than barbarous Izzlamic rule that lasted 1000 years prior to British. In fact British were the liberators of India.

13. British Neutralized Mozlem Rulers in India and restored religious freedom, though many do not want to agree.

14. Even in 1857-58 mutiny, British killed mostly mozlems (nearly 1 million) and only 200,000 HHindus were killed.

15. British built railways to efficiently transport goods to ports in India, but they also allowed Indian public to travel in trains, though not in the whites-only compartments.

16. British build several colleges and universities. It is incorrect to state that British education was set only raise 3-level clerks to serve the British. Even during British rule many Indians rose to the levels of officers, commanders, generals, etc.

17. They gave an equitable Justice system (even though a minority British citizens, less than 1%, living India enjoyed special status).

18. Indians live in a sort of self-delusion---always believing Indian culture is great, Indian knowledge is superior, Indian history is 4 billion year-old, .... In fact, Indians never had the habit of writing down history. Most Indian history & scriptures we read are based on myths, fantasies and fictions

Before British rule, the independent kingdoms of Bharat/Hindustan or today's India were responsible for 70% of worlds GDP.... so it was the British who came here for the sole purpose to loot. And which accomplishing this, they tried their best to neutralize all the kingdoms.. This was not to unite us but to divide and rule... they did not intend to unite us!!! We indians decided to unite against a brutal invader. Get your facts straight first

Some Indians claim Indian economy in 1700 was 27% of world economy, and you are claiming it was 70%. These are all fantastic claims not substantiated by any proofs. In fact, India has been a poor country as any other in the world in terms of per capita income. Indians live in a sort of perpetual delusion.

MUCH ADO ABOUT PRACTICAL LITTLE - just a historic monument in the current context. We should be more concerned about the monumental heaps of rubbish throughout the country which has been reduced to a vast slum, thanks to gross neglect and mismanagement over the past SEVEN DECADES!
