Beautifully written. Inspiration and an eye-opener for the young who are planning to get married in the near future as well as the married ones.

Every married couple should watch the 2 hour video called "A tale of two brains" by Mark Gungor. Search on YouTube. It's fantastic and he explains how both think and are so different brained (single tasking male brain vs multitasking women brains). It'll surely help each other understand better

Nice article every married couple should read.

After a very long time I read an article which is honest, practical and pragmatic. People enter marriage with lot of expectation and instead of accepting reality they think they have a wrong partner. Hence this increased rate of divorce for trivial reasons(However unhappy, abusive relationship divorce is a solution).

Divya Nair your husband is one lucky man.

Many(boys and girls) including my own sister's opinion about marriage is a bumper lottery ticket which will take you to rosy side of a life which you fantasized.

Marriage is a like a Gamble

Mam, I always feel we have to live either for of ourseleves (better not to get married in this case) or for our family. As a lady you are feel disappointed, the case is much worse in mens case. Ideally, only one partner (either husband or wife) should work to meet the family needs, by this employment problem and family problem will be solved.

Ideal is different for different people. For one person ideal is one partner should work, for another it is everyone working. You have the freedom to choose what is ideal for you, and others have the freedom to choose what is ideal for them (as long as it is legal).

so sad
by Pranav Mishra on Feb 03, 2015 03:23 PM

that both of you were seperate far away from each other even on the first anniversary which everybody treats as something special.
So very true, within few months of marriage there are those aunties and neighbours who will be so very eager to know the "good news".

Are you able to meet your brother often?

Your earlier story on how you changed your attitude towards your younger brother had me in tears. Hope he has his sister's caring love around always.

Hi Manav
It's really sweet to know you read the piece about my brother...On January 1 this year, he met with a bike accident and the first person he wanted to be by his side was me.
My baby brother is an inseparable part of me and will always be.

Divya, you seem to have got married into a very traditional family. That is the real problem. If your husband and inlaws believe in modern and positive thinking, you will not have the problem. You can still change them by your positive attitude and influencing their thinking in line with your thinking.Do not become subjugated. Then ,then they will consider you as a slave.Be confident,be yourself and above all take care of your loved ones well so that you can get love in return!

Hi Urvashi
My in laws are traditional, but they're not orthodox or conservative at all.
Post our wedding, the cousins have bonded well and the families have come together.
So, most of the social obligations are purely out of love...but sometimes, it becomes difficult to attend all social events and keep everyone happy. With time, I hope I can handle these tiny issues better.
Thank you very much for your kind wishes dear....:) Lots of love!
