The only reason why people leave India is to cross mind barrier. If you have global education, you believe in yourself. That's what makes people perfect in their life. Not only that every company respects global exposure to start off their careers. Are you dumb to think locally or you want to go global? Most wise people choose thinking globally. Only fools think locally.
Now a days lot many people sre going abroad to study in colleges insignificant and in many flimsy courses and that is not to gain any additional expertise but just to use the hard earned money the people has aquired. It is hard time that study in foreign country must be in subjects like science and technology, medicines and selection is based on selection tests nationwide,It is not only a waste of money but at the same time such students are in fact ruining the reputation of Indian students in general.Regards.M.Hussain

It is not just money. People move abroad for a better life for their family and kids. Thats one of the biggest reason. People who want money go abroad, work there and come back in some years. In India you are nowhere welcomed except for your own state. For example, it is much easier to assimilate in USA or England or Australia for a bengali than in Karnataka or Maharashtra.
we have facilities within the country. Why not expand medical colleges for instance within the country rather than funding students going even to China or Ukrain or Timbaktoo? same for subjects like economics or most such other subjects. Let them go on their own. Unless of course where we don't have the facilities.

Apart from point number 4, I dont see any other big issue in your list.
Dont you think you should include 3 more items, money, glamour, and status?

I don't know how you don't see it. Who likes to be stuck in traffic and inhale dust? You don't get space anywhere in this country. There is no concept of personal space here. Everywhere you go, there will be a head in front of you. That is a big issue for many people. Many people want to raise their kids out of the country because the culture here doesn't allow you to make mistakes and then learn from your mistakes. One mistake and your life is ruined (true especially for women).
The real intention of young Indians leaving India is not problems like unemployment, reservations etc. Even people with well paid jobs left India. It is just foreign craze, dollars and "cultural freedom" they want to enjoy there. And they follow, dress style (like puting money purse near belt etc, even speaking style of foreigners (like calling Oh. Ya!! etc). It is just symbol of lack of originality and foreign following.
They are so self-centered that they are least bothered about the responsibility of parents who gave birth and gave them good education. They just take all basic education in India and run way..then they sit off-shore and shout as "my India is great", "we are Indians" etc.

In India you have to work harder to survive. In America we very well know that life is very easy for the under-qualified.

Prof Mahesh or whoever has such ideas are not aware of realities. Most middle class parents support and encourage their children to study abroad. The reason is simple. The directors, Deans, and other heads of Universities by whatever name they are called are respected by the politicians and public alike. This is the real reason why the Ivy league universities are able to provide better education. The way people interact among themselves in our country is also very bad, starting right from standing in a queue at the local stores to buy daily requirements. If we have an self proclaimed uneducated chaiwala for PM and another uneducated with experience of ramp walking and speaking out dialogues written by others for HRD minister, who show no respect of VC of universities, it is time for every family man to think of sending their children abroad for education. Does anyone remember Irani wanted to go on hunger strike till death to force Modi to resign from the post of CM Gujarat? Where is one to look for intellectual honesty!!

The VC of Mumbai University is a smooth operator, who has stuck to his post despite adverse reports about his credentials. In some ways he is the equivalent of BCCI's Srinivasan, who could not be unseated, in the face of all evidence about his errors of commission. The VC of Mumbai University has managed to stick to his post by carefully cultivating the two senas, and the Congress, when it was in power. "There were petitions filed by V G Patil, Nitin Deshpande and A D Sawant. Patil's advocates Pankaj Kowli and Saira Mirzankar argued that the court must rehear the entire matter and not restrict itself only to the questions in the reference. They said Welukar does not have good academic record and his so-called publications are not research publication.. Also that he is a lecturer and not a professor, his appointment is ad hoc and he does not possess the required teaching experience. They said the search committee did not apply its mind while appointing him."

IIT is no big deal... they do the same moneky testing work along with every one else in Indian sweatshops.
Most posters here never got a chance to go abroad hence they are claiming great about India without knowing what is there outside India

If none of the guys could qualify for IITs but do exceedingly well in MIT and find find placement in US, then something is wrong with IITs' selction process and the quality of education.IITians in India write novels, become politicians all fine, but hwo many have invented any thing at all or established any engineering industry in India?
