This is vague journey

About 15 yrs ago, I also packed by bag to come to US. I did Masters, PhD, Postdoc from top US schools. Today I have a job but I'm severely dissatisfied. People here treat you like slave. Your education, experience, capabilities will all be meaningless unless you have a white skin. You will have to give ideas, develop technologies, work harder but your white boss will reap its benefits and at the end you will be deemed as a fellow who cannot go with people or something like that. Finally, you will be thrown out in the trash bin- this is what US experience is about. If I rewind that 15yrs of my life, I would not leave India. Doing something for the country where you are born is your privilege and I suggest these young stars to take a route that will make India stronger.

Studying Abroad
by joe britto on Nov 24, 2014 10:02 PM  | Hide replies

Studying Abroad is not just for the sake of getting a foreign degree but more importantly it's the meeting of students and professors of different countries and varied background . This experience is in itself invigorating and adds a definite dimension to help one have a
all around personality and different way of viewing the world.Hence even studying in B grade or C grade University does not diminish the value of a foreign degree.

You are wrong! We went to first rate and top research universities in the United States to get our doctorate degrees. Third and fourth rate universities (B, C and D grade schools) do not count. If you think otherwise, you are deceiving yourself and others.

Very correct but unfortunately not all middle class parents can afford a program for their child, without having to risk their life time savings!

Senior bureaucrats and officials
by Das on Nov 24, 2014 06:45 PM  | Hide replies

"When I asked senior bureaucrats and officials in the union human resource development ministry about this, they were dismissive. They argued that "these kids who lack the hunger" are welcome to leave; they have other, more serious problems and less privileged kids to worry about." With senior bureaucrats and officials like this who needs any external enemies! Just shows how dull, corrupt and uncaring India bureaucrats and officialdom has become.

Bureaucrats have always been highly corrupt but it is only recently we have come to realise OR the situation would not have reached this stage. Of course our MPs,MLAs were very happily snoaring since they knew that their Children will never have to study in real sense but somehow get a Degree & enter the best family business, Politics. In 1942 it was Indians who wanted British to quit India but now it is Indians who want to quit India to go to US,Britain,NZ,OZ and even Gulf but not India. This is because of Indian bureaucrats & Politicians. These two classes have ruined India alround. Thats why Indians prefer to live as 2nd or even 3rd Grade Citizens than live in India as 4th Grade Citizens. With more than 90% reservations for X,Y,Z where is the place for talent. So sooner the better. All the talented Indians better leave India. India is only for Politicians, corrupt Babus/Officials & corrupt businessmen and the most privileged Reserved Class.

They are right in one sense - they have to think about the 90% of the kids who do not have basic education rather than the 10% who study in IITs/IIMs and other premium institutions at government subsidy and then buzz off to the US? Is this fair?

Why
by Link Rhode on Nov 24, 2014 05:22 PM  | Hide replies

Why would students not like to leave India?!

Opportunities for finding good paying jobs in India are becoming scarce everyday!

The only option left is to migrate for work abroad.

We should actually promote this trend!

This is exactly how UP and Bihar people now rule Mumbai!

Had the state governments of UP and Bihar created jobs in their own states, nobody from these states would have wanted to leave them to live in Mumbai like cattle!

But they did not create jobs and people from these states migrated to cities like Mumbai, where their sheer numbers have toppled the local bigwigs like 5h1v 5ena!

As PIO during my last visit I noticed sadly all over India, barring a few places, public lacks community spirit and cohesiveness and unlike other nations there are remarkably few self-help initiatives. Instead almost everyone wants government to carry out n number of things. People have not yet understood that themselves too have responsibility in governance of schools, law and order, ensuring law and order. Its only backward, dull and uncivilized nations that masses start destroying public (their own national) property when protesting. Why are these people not punished severely and fined heavily when they set fire to vehicles, destroy rail tracks or block roads?

Laziness, corruption and incompetence
by Das on Nov 24, 2014 05:08 PM  | Hide replies

These are the hallmark of most Indians. They rather get money by doing nothing rather than hardwork. The contractors make substandard roads, substandard buildings, manufacturers substandard even toxic medicines, sewage plant contractors take money and run awat (70% of the sewage plant lie idle), crooks run substandard education institutions, racketeers run sport bodies, comprised judges run judiciary aad crooked police encourages lawlessness. This is all thanks to dull public still votes for even convicted crooks, like Laloo, Karuna, Mayavati, along caste lines. What is mind-boggling is that all these patently flouting of law and criminal activities in whole host areas go unpunished. The lack of intelligence ensures that these greedy, lazy and corrupt crooks do not realize the harm they inflict on the society. Sadly, the society looks up to those who flout their wealth, when any educated and informed public will be disgusted, specifically in a nation as poor as India. Even entertainment world that lives directly off poor is antinational. Name one other nation apart from Indian Bollywwod that holds its annual event on foreign soil? None except crooks of Bollywood. These shameless crooks, headed by likes of Bacchan, Shahruk etc, rather than ensuring that money is spent on local hotels, and creates local employment, waste the public money on foreign trips, and use it as way of taking money abroad.

Who can argue such valid "arguments"? Government, center or stste means inefficiency. Too many staff (social obligation ?!!?), doing nothing except collecting bribes for self and bosses. Who does not know this ?

Mr. Das, I think this is what basically one who feels to bring development to India in the real sense must think of and do. If any one wants to work for developing the nation, let them work to remove the corruption and implement sincere work in all the area of government and private offices and jobs. kindly elaborate all these thoughts of yours and make it public, so that all those chamchas of all our political leaders will get something for their mind that not just announcing any yojana will not work out but being sincere in executing without any publicity and propaganda.
