Dr. Nithya mentioned that "most women in Ralegan did not know what contraception was". First our corrupted government must create awareness about population control instead of wasting so much money for aadhaar card and many more other useless schemes. Now it is time to ban child marriage and control population first. Any bill banning child(teenage) marriage and controlling population will be very useful. Because population and poverty are inter-related to each other.

If the govt uses the money spent on forcing Hindi on South Indians via public sector companies and banks on educating the poor in North India, India would have been a super power by now.

please don't talk like racist.
uneducated people are everywhere. Don't generalize anything based on your smallest observations or statistics. Everyone is equally good and equally bad.
When we were fighting among ourselves in the name of religion, caste, language etc., Arab and British came here and divided, ruled and looted for so many years.
Even now we are not realizing our mistakes.
Now we are not aware and do not know how to make money using science and technology, American and all other developed countries are coming here and making India as their markets and making lots of money. Sadly we have very small number our own industries as compared to developed countries. Unless our politicians and common people are started realizing the importance of industrialization and privatization and also forgetting corruption, we cannot become developed country. Indian's weakness is American and all developed countries strength.

"At a time when young professionals are busy running after quick money and complaining how overworked and underpaid they are"

this was the best line to start with

Becoming a learned and educated MD
by M on Oct 07, 2013 05:46 PM

Becoming a learned and honestly educated MD in India is a herculean task and almost that of a super-human job if from a humble background;
Hats-off to such honest indians who get there by pure perseverance and will to win and know well that there are quite a few who lost the number game being as deserving as anyone else;
Hope the future India will improve and there will be opportunity for all;
