Have to admit that you are right (at least to a very good extent).
The previous civil services exam topper from Kerala - Mr. Raju Narayanaswamy who emerged topper in 1991 - proved to be a thorn in the flesh of corrupt ministers of the current Congress led govt. in Kerala and so has been shunted to an insignificant and largely titular position!
And the stupxid commoners - who praise the 'development' initiatives of the Kerala govt. - remain mute witness and then re-elect those very same thieves to power!

Another way of looking at it he failed to manoeuvre through the political intricacies of the system.
After all, all the training is about overcoming adversities. A stance that I am going to make a difference only in my way ultimately doesn't yield anything.
Now in his role what use is he to the country anyway?

that's because IAS exam simply tests some mugged up knowledge, NOT problem solving skills, people skills, negotiation skills, maturity as a potential administrator etc. Which is also why people can keep mugging up and end up as toppers.
Your strong determination, hard work and continuously preparing for the exam, made it possible to become IAS topper. Heartiest Congratulation to Haritha Kumar.
I am proud even i have one daughter who is in 12th. you have set as an example to all of us. one request do not fall as a prey to dirty, uncivilized, unethical, uneducated politicians. Do not bend down to politicians word already the Hero Mr. Sashi Thoroor approached you keeping in mind to take some advantage from you.

Don't be suspicious of all politicians whenever they do something human be generous to appreciate them. Salute to woman power. But as long as we divide society into sections like sc/st/women etc. we can not go far. A holistic view is required.
