Mr Nadar is absolutely right...we will see dangerous society .Instead of helping youngsters to become responsible adults GOVT is pushing them to illegalities
There is no known ballpark figure across the world. Indian has different societies and what is acceptable in one is not acceptable in another. Given the scenario, I agree that the age of consent should be lowered to 16; and even 15 if the person she is with is within 5 years of her age group. If not lowered, the *effect* of the law would be harassment of young couples.

What I feel is that some kins of the political leaders seems to be involved in rape cases and after the introduction of this act, it will be advocated to settle the rape cases by pressing hard the opposite parties by hook or by crook. I also apprehend that in future cthe kins of highly placed leaders and officers raping the girls below 18 may be pressed to settle the rape cases using the provisions of this act. Except this there seems to be no vision behind this act amendment.
