It suits the Government to lower the age of consent as it will not be recorded as rape if such a young girl consents. Thus number of rape cases wil be shown as dramatically reduced.

In india all Laws & rules comes under Reservaton policy. So, Govt should make age of consent to 16 first reservation for all Political Leader Daughters & Rich People Daughers. Then increase phasewise.
Nice article but does Mr Nadar really think that our senile politicians can differenciate between a 16 and a 18 year old girl.Ask our home minister and he will tell you that the difference is only of 2 candles on the birthday cake.
