we are a mentally conditioned lot
by rajat misra on Mar 12, 2012 03:07 PM  | Hide replies

What makes mankind different from animals is that it has a superior brain but as we take are genesis from animals are behaviour is same as theirs. Man from the beginning wanted control so the stronger and powerful had their say. As humans evolved there was a shift and the man with superior mental faculty started dominating even the physically strong. thus to be able to control the not so cunning various laws and rules of the society were formed. With this started the conditioning of the human brain by a few clever individuals. Thus the caste system, the various religious following is all a result of the mans desire to have control over the others like the king of a pride just the way in the animals. Humans who have the capability to survive on there own were conditioned to believe that the could only survive if they followed the set of rules which got created by the clever. Thus slowly the society started following what there leader said and stopped questioning his decisions. Today we are the far extant where the divide is the largest and more power hungry people are fighting to control there set of herd. The one who researches and puts forth a new point which is likely to break this system is challenged immediately by those who are mentally conditioned and have the least idea why they are following a set of laid down conditions. There lies the strength of the cunning and clever rulers of society.

well said Mahesh. It has become a trait of Indians (including us) to play blame game and look at everything though the goggles of caste and religion and not really understand and look into our own backyards

I am not sure what Manu said.. but googling it tells me that Manu's scriptures were translated by a Britisher in the late 1800 and every one seems to have his own interpretation of it. For all you know it could have been an excellent tool to divide and rule..and all the controversial statements from the Manu shastra are infact his interpretations..and of course having said that i would like to add that i abhor/hate the caste system in Hinduism which defines the status of man in society by the caste he is born in and not on merit. Major cause of Hindu disunity.Makes it easy for leaders and other religions to take advantage.

Indian Women - Most abused
by Face Dude on Mar 12, 2012 12:46 PM  | Hide replies

Without agreeing or disputing with the contents of this article, it is a sad fact that women are socially most exploited and abused in India, even though laws and state regulations preach and encourage just the contrary.

1) Women cannot pursue their goals after marriage
2) Women earning higher than their spouses are condemened and frowned upon
3) Women trying to act openly and behave casually in society are frowned upon are discouraged
4) In rural and semi rural areas, the situation is pathetic due to the religious norms and conventions prevailing there coupled with the illiteracy and ignorance
5) Even before birth, the female foetesus are destroyed illegally. Everyone wants a male child!

Women are treated like objects of curiousity - in films either they are glam dolls or weep queens or self sacrificing angels, but never a realistic, aspiring and independent human being. Horrible state of affairs in this country, and the problem is with the mental make up of the general public. Not with the political will or the rules and regulations of the state.

If you really think western men are adjusting, then there would not be many divorces. We should not adjust in anything.Men are superior.

I completely agree to your comment except when you say "women are socially most exploited and abused in India"
I hope I have the point clear and I don't need to remind you of what happens to women in Gulf and North African countries where they don't have rights to walk freely on streets. And yes, also in few other Asian countries.

are designed by nature in a way that we feel good when we do right and feel bad and guilty when we do something wrong. And the consciousness is the best judge. If you do something and feel guilty, it is you who first dont acknowledge whatever you have done and thats why the guilt. Why should someone come a dictate me on what I need to do and what not?

Cant rediff find better articles? It has changed from a news portal to a pornportal these days... and heading to be even worse.

Nowadays production cost of one Cinema could not be imagined. Hence the producers does want steamy scenes which could encourage higher viewership. Because of this our cultural identity are dropping out to a large extent and Children are dressing like Hero's and Heroines.

We have to protect our children from these evils are preach good culture.
