Re: Why can't Indians be in a lane?

Because all drivers in India think they own the road and can do whatever and drive where ever they like as and how they wish.
That is India my friend. Government and all other officials don't have any discipline and you are asking it from the public.
To be totally honest with you, Highways and Expressways in India, are not of the same and high quality standard that you can expect to find in Germany, Ireland, UAE, Japan and the UK. If anything India should get the Irish and or the Germans to build and improve the quality of our roads, highways and expressways and teach us how to drive sensibly, safely, confidently and responsibly.

Most of the highways built in UAE are built by Indians, so it is our system that does not allow building high standard highways.

Bharat, Rediff are tarred with the brush of ignorance, what would expect? The 700km ECR road, would look better, if it had six lanes in total and not two. Rediffmail never appreciate quality. Their journalists need to go back to school and improve their IQ (sorry, Rediffmail journalists have no IQ) and eradicate their ignorance.

Exactly. And what about the scenic drive along ECR... btw... Chennai to Pondy is around 150 km on ECR not 700 km.

Yes, it's not an expressway but a tolled highway which is of good quality with some mountainous scenery on the way between Hosur and Krishnagiri. Also, the newly laid h/way between Bangalore and Mulbagal on the NH 4 is also great. I guess roads are in general improving, hope the driving sense of Indians also does so, especially with high speeds this kind of ignorance or incompetence only leads to death.
If the author is speaking about the view, he is right. Most of them look spectacular. But if he is speaking about the roads themselves, even the Pune-Mumbai highway is ordinary. We are so far behind in our road infrastructure. We realise that once we travel abroad. In Dubai, roads with 6 tracks in one direction are common. There is a bridge right inside the city which has seven lanes in each direction. Having such a huge population in India, it is absolutely necessary to have good infrastructure if we have to develop faster. If all the office-goers can save 1 hour in travel everyday, thats a huge increase in productivity.
Can't see anything spectacular, most looks dangerous. Especially Mumbai-Pune Expressway in first picture. Why so many narrow bends on a small stretch of Highway.

Bends on the roads are mainly due to reasons pertaining to nature. Here it is mainly due to the Ghat section, where the hills are steep and made of huge boulders.

Yea, all people discussing what they had for lunch and what their relatives were saying behind their back.
One keeps expecting a minute of silence will prevail but . . .
