world's toughest mil camp
by Swami Yesudas on Sep 27, 2011 05:10 PM  | Hide replies

I seriously question the advisability of putting teenagers through this tough training. It is shameful. Bad thinking on the part of planners. For the participants, this would be a time when neither their body, and least of all their mind, is prepared for extremes.

swami when you see tough times then only you realise the value of good times. there are no limits to human mind and body. once you do things like this you amply understand this. once one has done all this a different type of confidence drops in to face all kinds of odds in life what ever it may be. but one will realise all this once one has done all this.excellent show on planners side. all traits of mans character come out amply here and the will to win is enhanced further. and this is what we need in war because THERE ARE NO RUNNERS UP IN WAR. remember swami THERE ARE ONLY 2 TYPE OF SOLDIERS IN WAR EITHER GOOD SOLDIER OR DEAD SOLDIER.

Swamy, this is the right age to undergo such training. This is age where you have the best flexibility and recovery. The healing of injuries will also be fast at this age. Got lot of my school mates who had undergone this, nobody complains instead they have a nostalgic feel about it.

world's toughest military camp ?
by kas on Sep 26, 2011 04:22 AM  | Hide replies

Its tough for sure but am not sure its the toughest in the world. I am in my mid 30's for some of my hard backpacking, i do 40 km a day carrying my backpack weighing 25 kg over multi days. During some of summiting i have to bushwack and orienteer using maps and compass, (GPS can fail) and have no one else to help me other than my climbing buddy, this is all we do for fun not for just pushing ourselves, the same these guys are going through.. i see city lights in background of one of the pictures, the places i go there is not cellphone reception or even civilization for 100's of kms and this isnt unusual, ... between am not the fittest of the outdoor people either, there are lots of people much more fitter than me..

Mate you are 30 and these are just teens. There is a vast difference when you copmare yourself and them. They do it with very little sleep. Getting through sleep deprivationa dn going on is altogether a different game.

great man! appreciated.
But you do this in a break and they dont get a break from this. you can be with your gf when you want to or go partying they cant. you can stop when you want to, they cant. next when they will be doing it, there will be enemy snipers aiming for their head, while you will be here on rediff trying to impress a few with your tough backpacking.

if a 35 year old person with average or just a little above average fitness can do the same tasks that these guys who are in the prime can do and not only that, do it as fun, the only conclusion i can come is either these guys training cant be the toughest in the world or the physical fitness standards of all the military camps in the world for 19 year olds are generally lower than an above average athlete. Rediff story heading just doesnt sound real

Do run 40 km with 25 kg and a rifle every day for 5 days, dig trenches during day, carry out firing during night and then speak...While the campsite is near NDA,the route of their marches and runs do not come back to NDA.These guys sleep like 3 hours a day. I have been to NDA once to visit my friend.I saw guys rolling for nearly a km on road in hot sun and then and there I decided it's only for pshychos...Even I am an outdoor guy but these guys at NDA do everything as a competition between various squadrons or battalions or whatever.I have seen the training video of navy seals and other special forces. They have to complete the whole route over rough country, hills mountains etc in a specified time without water and food...please try that and talk about toughness

kas... ur view appreciated....aim o f the camp is to toughen the young soldiers who are going to lead men in battle... aim is not only to carry a couple of kilos and walking around at night, it is part of training them as true leaders to lead from the front... remember those valiant young officers who passed out of NDA and laid down their lives in Kargil and they continue to do every day on the borders so that u can have safe and sound sleep at home... The camp is only a part of a curriculum in a three year training.. if the leader is not tough hw can he lead his men in war and survive the battles... suggest please trek in the siachen glacier.. climb hill ranges at 15000 ft and above... stay there for couple of months watching the borders with eagle eyes... u can understand the fun... appreciate that u too are tough and welcome to join the club...

I fully agree wth you but what dogs me is what makes these same men ..may be 10 - 15 years down the line..take bribes..betray the faith of the nation..and mind you it is no more rare ..may a colonel/brigadier/maj gen etc have been found guilty of criminal acts..i feel so sad for my country...similar stories apply to bright college grads from famous places who become IAS?IPS?IRS and then such the blood out of the mother nation...

Yeah, very true.. Its painful to see all these. There is something missing in the training to instil that ever lasting love for the nation. As the trainers/instructors r following the routine but soft skills are missing, which can bring these kind of bonding with the whole nation. And true sense of responsibility in moral values.

I still think armed forces are much less corrupt than IAS/IPS.in fact there is no comparison in the corruption. Many stories of corruption has been investigated by army itself and then media takes over. Any ways, army has no way of being corrupt alone as all funds are controlled by civilians in the defence ministry as i understand..

discission
by SURAJ PRAKASH on Sep 24, 2011 10:02 AM

thats why armed forces doesnot have a discission forum else people will keep discussing shit about them wasting time.
Though democracy is the best form of governence the problem is they also speak and speak a lot, who know nothing about that perticular topic.

dude who so evr u are... kindly say only wen u ve tried such things...... anybdy can say any amount of shit sitting in your cosy homes.. if the claims are made they are made after long analysis and over a period of time.... this thing has been taking place twice every year frm the last 60 years.... even the cadets of foreign academies for instance the us military academy have been tried in this camp and those cadets of us mil. academy couldnt complete the camp and left it in between.. what else proof do you need to say that this is the toughest camp in the world.... you try it once in the conditions we complete this camp and then say......

Where are PICS inside toughest police camps
by Udayasimha alasinger on Sep 23, 2011 04:14 PM  | Hide replies

As police is the first line of civilian defence, police should be made as competent as the army. As we saw in the mumbai attack, terrorists were carrying AK-47 guns and police were carrying lattis. In todays India, war cannot happen from outside. All our neighbouring countries know our capabilities. As somebody has rightly pointed out that spies can be anywhere, so it is the duty of the police to hunt for these spies or trouble mongers. So if the govt. spend atleast 10% of military budget on police, things will be far better. Govt. spends close to 10 to 15% of our GDP on Armed forces. Does it mean that police is not part of the armed force?

Police is the most corrupt and in efficient force in the country. Seen the policemen???pan chewing obese idiots......and the IPS guys on top have an easy time as they need to do nothing after clearing the civil services exam....Instead of police being trained to battle terrorists, military should take over policing...

police is not any line of defence...these days of terror link things police need fire power and for that they got seperate wings likne police commandos/rapid action team/quick response teams etc. what police need is clear and transparent dealing with the public. It takes a lot of money and effort to train a soldier but he is thrown out at the slightest of misdemeanour whether once a police always a police. This must change...the term bribe is very anti to police so a police should be thrown out if he is guilty of bribe taking/mis behaviour with public etc...poilice are a law unto themselves...watch the serial COPS in Starworld channel..sundays 2 pm...you will know what it takes to be a policeman....what is should be...always at your help...absolutely proffessional and strict and proper...
