HP LAPTOP BLAST`
by deepak on Jan 11, 2011 05:13 PM  | Hide replies

I HAD A HP LAPTOP WHICH BLASTED AS SOON AS I SWITCHED IT ON. AFTERWORDS THE LAPTOP CAUGHT FIRE. EVEN MY DESK CAUGHT FIRE DUE TO IT.
EVEN AFTER LOTS OF COMPLAIN TO MY NEAREST HP SERVICE CENTRE THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING IN THIS REGARD AND I HAVE PLANNED TO GO TO CONSUMER COURT NOW.

It is really unfortunate that you had to endure this. I can sympathize with you, but I can also surely give you one piece of free advice based on my experience.

Even though consumer courts were meant to be accessible to a common man, these courts, in reality, have turned out to be the handmaiden of corporates. Firstly the complaint filing process is very complicated as you have to fill up a lot of forms, often in local language (so in Bangalore, you get the form in kannada) and then wait for the companies to respond. Process is so cumbersome that you have to take a day off from work to actually file the complaint because they dont accept email complaints. Legal entities in these big corporates somehow know that consumer courts are dud because even though they are obliged to close the case in three months, often these companies will not respond to the notices. Consumer courts, for some reasons, dont always close the case in such cases in favor of the complainants - I am told that the clerical staff have to be suitably "rewarded". I never did it and the case hung on in the court for 7-8 months.

Finally I realized that this was not going to work and then decided to visit the sales head office of the company and carry a letter for the consumer court. I dont know why, but it apparently worked. I told one of the managers that if I dont get my money back, I am going to file the case in consumer court (I had already filed it and apaarently this guy did

The guy's tone suddenly changed and he asked me for two days and promised that I will get my money back. He just requested me to not file the case with the court. After two days, I got the call from the same fellow and he asked me to collect my cheque. When the money got credited to my account, I never realised that it could have been so easy. On the contrary, I recieved a few calls from the consumer court that a hearing into my case was scheduled for so-and-so date, even after one year. Everyone in those dumb courts wants you to "reward" them with a share of the booty to move things. I guess that corporate lawyers understand it and they just ignore the notices from consumer court as they know that consumer is unlikely to get the entire money back because he has to pay a lot of middlemen and perhaps wont pursue the case for too long. Only a few reluctant ones pursue the case, even if it means loss of their own money through bribes, and try to make it up with some compensation. If you have time and energy for all this, you may go for it. Otherwise, just a letter addressed to the consumer court can be carried to the sales office and it may do the trick.

buddy, they are just facilitators of the sale. they are not selling the product themselves... trust me, you should only trust ebay & amazon for an online purchase.

even with e-bay you can not be sure of quality. i ordered one tool-kit,it was delivered promptly but its quality was very bad. buy things like books etc which can not be duplicated easily or will be of inferior quality.

Big Bazaar - SHOCKING EXPERIENCE
by jitender kamboj on Jan 11, 2011 04:27 PM

This is reference to my visit last year at Big Bazaar Wazir Pur Area in New Delhi. During this visit, my bag was missing at the baggage counter. To my shock, the bag was recovered by the staff alleging swapping with some other customer bag. The swapping of bag was accepted when I called up Delhi Police and subsequently wrote to them along with Delhi Metro Vigilance Department and Kishor Biyani. I was compelled to declare that I have received my bag along with all other items, whereas one of my Spy pen was missing (Worth Rs. 1500). It was a shocking experience at Big Bazaar and a very good learning experience to see the modus operandi of these brand by looting their customers by different means including stealing. Jitender

Big Bazar sham
by Raghupathi KS on Jan 11, 2011 03:47 PM

Similar to the experience of a customer of big bazar about the scheme, I too was taken for a ride. I bought products worth Rs.7900 in Big Bazar, Kothrud, Pune and realising that there is an offer for Rs.8000, bought another product through another bill for Rs.100 and grandly went to the gift counter, only to be told that the entire purchase should be in one single bill! I said 'God Bless' for the scheme and Big Bazar !!
