A little bit of advice
by Francis Dias on Jan 13, 2011 12:43 PM  | Hide replies

There are many companies out there who are willing to gyp you if you are culpable. These cos. are a bunch of plebian sales persons hating the world for their lowly position and remember today, because of offers and low costs, you are just a piece of trash to the sales/service person. So what do you do if you have a problem? I have followed a few steps and though not easy, it's possible.
1. Complain - in writing. Call centers are absolute rut, so only thro email and by snail mail also. Note: A letter to the CEO/MD by snail mail will work at lightning speed in relieving you of your problem. Even a monolith like MTNL with utter disdain to customers reacted with alacrity when I wrote to their GM.
2. Follow up with the complaint. Keep records and in yr communication write - reminder 1, 2, etc.
3. If not answered within reasonable time, threaten with a notice. It works.
4. If it doesn't, actually write a notice. Use snail mail with REGD. AD to the MD. Address of every large organisation is on teh net. This starts a fire in the organisation.
5. If it still doesn't work, write to a local press reporter with copies of all letters, etc.
6. If it doesn't work, file a petition in the consumer court.
I know it takes time, but then 'chalta hai' will eventually drown you. Sit up and take notice.

your advice is good,i have gone to the level of writing to CEO/MD
and then i was flooded with "what'the problem sir" calls from head offices.i have restrained myself from going to consumer courts etc because maybe for a case of 1000 rs or so it will stress me a lot!

Rediff is a big cheater
by bhola bachha on Jan 12, 2011 06:45 PM

Can rediff answer this question of mine ? Why am I not delivered my book even after almost 20 days of booking, when it was supposed to be delivered within 3 days of booking ? The status in the shopping list shows 'Awaiting Dispatch' for almost 2 weeks now. I made a huge mistake by purchasing book from rediff shopping. When I send an email to the person given as contact person in the page, there is absolutely no response. What right rediff has to publish this article if they themselves are such a book crooks ?

Shocking Experience
by jitender kamboj on Jan 12, 2011 01:39 PM

This is reference to my visit last year at Big Bazaar Wazir Pur Area in New Delhi. During this visit, my bag was missing at the baggage counter. To my shock, the bag was recovered by the staff alleging swapping with some other customer bag. The swapping of bag was accepted when I called up Delhi Police and subsequently wrote to them along with Delhi Metro Vigilance Department and Kishor Biyani. I was compelled to declare that I have received my bag along with all other items, whereas one of my Spy pen was missing (Worth Rs. 1500). It was a shocking experience at Big Bazaar and a very good learning experience to see the modus operandi of these brand by looting their customers by different means including stealing. Jitender

Copying West minus customer service...
by Passed on Jan 11, 2011 10:33 PM

We have some brilliant minds who is trying to copy sales and promotional schemes of west and luring customer to business, but they do not have best interest at their heart. All they care about is how to cheat people, instead of coming up as a respected business who take care of their customers. No one complains that businesses are opened to make money, but making money selling stuff and making money by deceiving people are 2 different thing.

Best case in this scenario is to:
1. Let all your friends and relatives know about it and ask them to beware of that business.
2. Openely criticize business practice
3. If amount and condition demand, file a case in consumer court
4. Stick to your guns and do now let go your rights of fair service

Because of our lax consumer protection laws and unawareness of these laws make it easy for consumers to be deceived. Unless we will become more educated about our rights and business rules, we will be taken advantage of always.
