IITs ceased long back as dedicated institution for promoting excellence. When their staff bask in past glory, the government is meddliing with its profile of excellence thru reservations for merit-wise undeserving.

Yes, upto 50% reservations for SC,ST,OBC. And then political games too! Best faculty do not reach these institutes.
The IITs are over hyped. It is only right and proper that these gravy train institutes are downgraded. These institutes are only a colossal drain on the taxpayer. Time has come to raze the institutes to the ground.

These institutes do not produce scientific and technology professionals, they wont have any Nobel laureates.
This was destined to happen with reservation for SC and ST, and OBC in IIT one day will come when IIT will be reduced to the status of private third grade engineering college those days are not far

SC/ST is the answer of such a down fall in IITs. In present time, SC/ST Quota in IITs & also IIMs shall be 100% and some seats shall be reserved for SC/ST/OBC on payment basis say Rs 50 Lakhs and above then our rating will start from BIG ZERO. Waht a great nation is INDIA due to Politicians. In future at least for 5-7 years all medical seats shall be reserved for SC/STs only and products shall be exclusively for Politicians.
Why should we follow others ranking . Is in India the dearth of evaluators?. Why should we take granted the ranking done by others. One should be confident on the rating by ourselves

even i feel so. This is a survey from academeic point after all. In a survey based on scientific and social innovations, entrepreneurship, industry readiness, tangible research and patents etc , No indian institute will be there in top 500.
