please give indian universities 20% reservation in top 100 rankings.India was a colony and before that invaded therefore it should be given reservation.
why r u blindly beliefing on these surveys done by foreign agency. In hard time of recession we done well when hundreds of foreign banks fail to recover and countries r not able to save employments. Blindly belief show lack of confidence of people of comment in favour surveys.

What a person will get after getting IIT Degree, if after joining organization he becomes lazy, cannot take responsibility, cannot help grow the orginzation, and no innovative ideas. Even an ordinary graduate will oversee him then. I have seen Phd, M.Tech, MBA degree holders sacked for not performing well.

You should not use a Elephant to plough, when you can better use a bull. Give a person, proper job of his caliber. Don't let him to become under perfomer by giving some bull shit job. How many companies in India does some real good R&D or innovation ??.. You are employing an IIT engineering for some copy paste job and stamping him as under performer... thats funny indeed. And if a person is having potential and he is not performing, his boss should be fired for not shaping up his subordinate.
Money, money, money Must be funny In the rich man's world Money, money, money Always sunny In the rich man's world Aha-ahaaa All the things I could do If I had a little money It's a rich man's world
best persons do not want to be teachers. they prefer jobs in corporate ones. it is more rewarding.

The distribution of the money is gradually differing from its real purpose
If Kalam had gone to IITs he would have become an investment banker, if Venky had gone to IITs he would have become a banker, if PItroda had gone to IITs he would have become a marketing guru.

All their success is due to US not to IITs. By the way Narayana Murthy employs non-IITs by the thousands.

So you cannot blame IIT, if somebody becomes famous in US. Its something wrong in our own country.
By indulging in reservations for merit wise undeserving SC/ST and degrading IITs over the year whom the edu minsitry and edu ministers are helping. Private and UGC unrecognized institutions which are beating IITs in private industry's eyes? I suspect these guys are being bribed to subvert IITs and NITs to promote private institutes only. These stories will be revealed after decades
Re: Whom the edu minister promoting?

Gov. should remove OBC reservation all over India in Jobs and Universities. As far as SC/St reservation concerned it should be continue because they do not have enough coaching, electricity, computers, money, guidence, food & infra etc.

U r wrong dude....govt should mend their cast system for all..and only S.T are deserve to get reservation..bt,,nowdays percentage of reservation is vry high..it should not be greater than 5%..bcoz,,,now in india OBC and SC both hav money, power n .......so,,they should use their brain to get in heritage institute lyk IIT's rather than caste certificate. Bt,1 thng we all know that it will never happen.n in future it will be increased..After all vote bank matter for all the minister..why should they think abt our heritage or Mango people lyk us........??
IITs have failed to produce good engineers and technologists as they were expected to do at the time they were set. IITs only produce wannabe marketing gurus, investment bankers, finance and hr professionals and others who do not want to work in engineering and technology. These institutes have nothing to do with engineering or technology.
Re: Re: IITs have failed
by Vivek Dev on Sep 08, 2010 03:01 PM
All ABC Colleges of Engg and XYZ Institutes of Technology produce engineers unlike IITs.
Re: Re: Re: IITs have failed
by bhagat singh on Sep 09, 2010 09:23 AM
Most of them other than NITs produce only dumb engineers labeled as engineers. IITs and NITs along with some reputed colleges like VJTI, Anna University, BEC etc produces what is called engineers. I hope you got it. Now don't get frustrated just because you coundnt make to IITs.
Wake up IITans. Its time for you to look where you are upto with the current education system at your institutes. With world wide institutes impressing a lot on inter disciplinary studies and research they are performing well as per current scientific and engineering requirements. But in IITs (and almost all universities across India) with your age old syllabuses, teaching, un-innovative projects, research, etc., also your corrupt mentalities you are no good resource to India. After drawing creamy layer of intelligent teenagers into your institutes you IIT faculties & administration should be more serious on what you are making them? You can't just leave them on their own because they are intelligent! Your responsibility is to turn them to experienced intellectuals so that they become engineering and scientific resources persons of our country, which I believe you have forgotten!! It really hurts when you being on top institutes of India and under perform at the time when world is advancing in new dimensions of science and technology.
I feel that the survey is real. India has been drastically getting downgraded on various fronts due to corruption and lack of process orientation. First education was commercialised, reservations implemented, the freedom of elite institutions curbed, more of medical colleges approved for uncountable amount of bribe etc. When there is disease at the root, it is expected that the effect has to be witnessed in every sphere of life. We are seeing that in the way CWG is perceived by the world, now the IITs, tomorrow it will be IIMs, and finally 1. India will be destroyed as a hub of educational excellence 2. India will be thrown out from the excellence in IT and software 3. India will be neglected by the world for its lack of ethical and moral standards
For all these things, the politicians are forming a strong base, which will not be overrooted by anybody in future.

I don't agree with you Khalleel, polities has very meek influence on the performance of professional in IIT's. They are paid handsomely, they live luxurious lifestyle, their projects will be approved easily by government organizations if you compare with that of university resource persons and even they get intellectual input from students. With these facilities they should be more involved in their academic activities rather than worrying about administrative difficulties and politics.
