After independence, now 3rd generation is enjoying the reservations in all aspects based on caste. This is more than sufficient. The caste should be removed from all the records of the government and other organisations in all application forms, employment records etc. If you want to really help, give reservations to the economically backward and the physically handicaped etc not based on caste. Now by including caste in the census, we are going backwards by a centuries.

How many generation did the upper caste enjoy positive discrimination under caste?writing education on paper means nothing..It has to be enforced..where is the rural development needed for that..why is there honor killings till today?All i can see from your comment is that many complaining are just frustrated at reaping the harvest of the same caste system you had created...

Religious ideas which promote caste based discrimination in any form is poison.It weakens the people
WE TOTALLY SUPPORT GOVT'S DECISION FOR CASTE BASED CENSUS. THIS WILL..REMOVE THE DISPARITY..WHERE CERTAIN CASTES WHOSE POPULATION IS THAN 5% OF TOTAL INDIAN POPLUATION OCCUPY 40% OF ALL JOBS & BENEFITS OF GOVT.

reservation is the effect.caste is the cause..caste breaks down so will reservation..caste exploitation must be made into capital crime and has been classified as human right abuse
No leader except Mr.Balasaheb Thakry has guts to speak openly against this castwise division of india.Where is Rahul Gandhi now?Why he kept mum on this issue,just for vote bank...shame on all political leaders which are dividing india once again.Only God can save this country now!!
I think India got bad habit of castism and now we should come together and find a way how to release india form this cast adict. It is really ruin the society,nation as well as the coming generation
What is caste?It was a permanant work orientation by which he earned.As such it has no relavance if a person is not doing that work for earning.Unfortunately it has been treated as identity.Let it be so.But when it is exixting and accepted what is the problem in mentioning it in census.It is not going to devide the country but qustion must be asked what a person does for earning? How much he earns through this work? It would certainly unify the country as socity is made of social people with interdependence and there is no other means to live properly without constructively depending on each other.
Why can't rediff starts a campaign against Matrimonials where Brahmins seeking Brahmins, bania seeking Bania? isn't it a open display of racism? Caste is a reality in India and caste is life line nothing happens without caste. So let us not pretend and live in fools paradise/ Reognise that India is cate ridden society and acknowledgr the descrimibnation on caste, identify the progress of each community therefore caste identification is a must.

Marriage is once choice and not of the society. The life of the couple after marriage should be hormonious, which will be more possible when the two minds think alike. The probability of thinking alike is more when the boy and girl come from the same background and thinking. If this cretirion is met then the caste has no meaning.
By the society banning a marriage as suggested is only going to increase the difference than finding a solution.
In life nothing should be forced, but made to accept and then only we will have fruitfull end a Ramarajya.
