Chetan Bhagat & His work till now

Friends, I ready 2 books of CB..2 States and Five point someone...He writes good but not as per international standards...He needs more time to be an international writer. He writes in simple language, which is very very good to understand for every people around the world. He needs to cover long journey to be an International writer...like Salman Rasdi...

When I started reading your post, I thought... "here is a well read person, who is analysing Chetan Bhagat and his writing skills" and then the last word of your post exposed it..... Have you read any books by Salman 'Rushdie'? :-p

Chetan Bhagat and intellectual literary standard
by Deep B on May 26, 2010 06:46 PM  | Hide replies

I read the books by CB, all of them. Appreciated them. Few comments in this forum, question about his literary talent (like why it is not acclaimed by literary intellectuals or why some foreign critics praised him... blah blah...).. But who cares about intellectual critics or a booker prize? Believe me or not I could not finish 'White tiger' or 'God of small things', though they are prize winners are acclaimed by foreign audience. On the contrary I enjoyed CB's books. And I hope its happened with many other reader like me. I am a common man who love to read whatever I like (not in literary standards / critics way).
Hail CB for his writing which appeals the mass (Indian).

Neha, that comment shows how shallow you are. True, that book by Ms Roy, has a few lines about how a woman goes to the toilet and then cannot flush as water is not available. However that is but one miniscule part of that book, and you state that...This got her a booker prize!

Really? this part got her the booker prize? did the Booker prize committee state that they gave the booker prize because it describes how a woman defecates?

That is an EXTREMELY well written book. Much much better written than White tiger, Hulabaloo, Midnights children and many other well acclaimed books.

Its sad that Ms Roy didnot continue writing books, and got absorbed into social activities instead.

The command Ms Roy has over the English langauge, and how deftly she expresses her thoughts and conjures images is simply outstanding.

Here is What I Meant! And it is not an Apology!!!
by GeekOrigins on May 25, 2010 07:47 PM  | Hide replies

People who sit in trains or plains and buy cheap novels to pass time would appreciate Chetan Bhagat immensely. Only problem is that he is a self confessed celebrity which is bugging me. Besides the 3Idiots episode really got me worked up. I just wanted to Ask Chetan Bhagat: Why Copy Nora Roberts in bits and pieces? Are you successful in masquerading it? Apparently not and Dude it is time to do some serious Original work.

Chetan Bhagat writes interesting contamporary fiction.
It is unfortunate that the story writer did not get proper recognition for the success of 3 Idiots. It is sad that movie makers do not give due credit to writers who is one of the most important part of any film or drama production!

Here is what he Meant
by GeekOrigins on May 22, 2010 03:06 PM  | Hide replies

1. "He encouraged innovation and creativity; he encouraged my ideas and asked me not to worry about my grades." :: This means he was no good at Studies. And hence useless. The professor must be laughing his ass off behind his back.

2. "My first crush in class V, when I first discovered romance. Now I make a living out of it!" :: Yes if you had some serious talent you would have done something better in life.

3. " There was no professional ambition as such" : :Yes I agree, You still don't have any ambitions.

4. "It was Rs 1,500 that I earned working at the Cadbury's factory at Lonavala as part of my IIT internship in 1994. " :: How I wish you had stayed there.

5. " When I wrote my first book and started looking out for a publisher, I knocked nine doors to rejection." :: The first nine were right to reject you. The tenth made our life miserable.

6. "The book is based on my personal life." :: That is it sucks.

My Comments:

a. Bhagat would be as, if not more, successful (monetarily) as any of the IITian or IIM alumni. The fame that he has earned is simply unparalelled.
b. Yes. U too have a serious talent - of criticizing whatever comes ur way.... Way to go buddy!!!
c. Whatever ambition Bhagat had - he achieved it (to be a writer). How many people can boast of the same.
d. Thanks Bhagat for taking up serious writing. Way to go!!!
e. Those 9 publishers surely know whether they were right or wrong.
f. The book is based on personal life and is not his personal life. Get real man. Do you have BALLS to share things as they are in your life?

No matter what people might say, anyone who has read 5 point someone... would agree that more tan 70% of the script has been picked straight from the book... rest as Anu Malik would like to say... HAVE BEEN INSPIRED BY THE REAL WORK. :-)

Good work Chetan.... waiting for your next BLOCKBUSTER!!!!

b. Yes. U too have a serious talent - of criticizing whatever comes ur way.... Way to go buddy!!!
( What Can I Say, Thanks Bro)

c. Whatever ambition Bhagat had - he achieved it (to be a writer). How many people can boast of the same. (Really, He never said that he wanted to be a writer, According to him he became a writer JUST NOW. Which Means by Accident.)

d. Thanks Bhagat for taking up serious writing. Way to go!!! ( Do Expand your Literary Horizons)

e. Those 9 publishers surely know whether they were right or wrong. (They did everybody a great Favor)

f. The book is based on personal life and is not his personal life. Get real man. Do you have BALLS to share things as they are in your life? ( You are Right, I don't hav The BALLS to expose my private life to everybody. It is my business and not everyones.)

Chetan Bhagat doesn't need to have his books certified brilliant by english literature standards. He isn't trying to be Tagore,Seth or Ghosh. His intention is not to win the Booker or Pulitzer through his writings. So what intellect is war lock talking about? Whats wrong if someone decides to read a book without applying his intellect?
