Indian constitution gives certain benifits to backward class on assumed population, if we need to continue to privides benifits like reservation in jobs and education, priority loan facility, discounted interest rates, etc. then we should know about exect popluation of backward class and also current financial position of backward class, i will certainly tell that some of communities will be out of the list as backward class, also policy of benifits provided to that class will also be changed as we will have concrete data of population and financial strenght of that community, so it is wellcome move by govt. and this Census should be on caste basis, Rakesh Kataria Mumbai
If we have law in our constitution that all are equal ..then y caste based separation ..we should try to abolish rather than developing it..if government really want to abolish caste then stop this caste census..or stop making laws in constiution...

There is no consitution to have homogeneous indian country with no religions, castes, regions, rich , poor or homosexuals. Adapt diversity is the only thing constitution can preach.
Once you qualify for that caste (does not matter where you were born). YOU can take the course of that CASTE and BE GIVEN CERTIFICATE OF that "CASTE".
So let us say you want to be a sub-caste, Jatt. You will have to know about the history of jatts in india, Jatt customs in various parts of India, then some physical criteria, etc.
I can take certificates of many CASTE !!!!!
EASY, now you remove the caste based UNIONISM in society? It is quite difficult as race based unionism, religion (kafir, non-kafir)-(believer, non-believer) based unionism, etc.
No problem. How does it matters? They may divide India into more pieces. Already it divided into three. Congress needs power. They are the tugs lead by Italian. We don't expect thugs to show patriotism. Good luck to Madam Sonia. You are encashing on our divisions.
Caste based Census is like the second coming of the Britishers. The Britishers elevated the Caste divisions to such a level that its after effects are being felt today also.
If we go ahead with this CASTE based Census, we are only adding fuel to fire. We are doing the same mistake today on forward castes that was done all these years on backward castes. Reservations and Quotas which are a direct result of these Caste system, should be based on Economic Conditions of the person, NOT based on Caste.
Let us provide for those who are hard working but have little means - be it in Education or in Jobs - Irrespective of Caste. That is the only way we are going to have an efficient workforce in the Country.
Caste based reservation were supposed to end in 10 years .. but they are still there. In todays india so called uppercastes are the only ones with no rweservations, and are poor.
Counting caste may be OK, but caste based reservation is not. It is pure vote bank.

Politicians seek votes based on religion, region, caste, gender, youth, homosexuality, and physical disability. Why fall on caste?.
UP and Rajasthan already provides 10% reservation to backward and poor people of OC too.
Had our politicians implemented reservation properly right from independence, by this time reservation benefits would have raised standard of living of those intented to stop. That didn't happen. 80% of SC/ST reservation are taken by forward castes in AP, Orissa, Karnataka, West Bengal and Punjab through false caste certificates. Bogus forward castes with SC/ST caste certificate candidates are elected to Parliament, Asemblies and also in IAS, IPS too. Reservations are exploited by forward castes with bogus caste certificates.

Rediff s idea of opposing cast based census is a elitist one, just as most of the news and print media of our beloved country. The fact is caste is a reality of indian society for years and will remain so for years; not because of a caste census, but because of castiest mind set of major media houses and upper caste society at large.
They say no to caste census, but see matrimonial column of any newspaper it depicts caste requirements with abject obscenity. Because cast census gives opportunity oppose it. however do not marry your sister or daughter to a low caste person.
Thanks almighty that india is a democracy and not mediacracy. Listen all the media houses you may harp your anti SC/ST/OBC drums much like your forefathers did for the last 5000 years, but you will not succeed unless you start marrying to lower castes. this is the remedy for a caste less society.
This step will eliminate the disease of caste. Your signature campaign is only a symptomatic treatment

my dear if there will be no caste then where is the issue of marring to low caste. census without caste would be the first step in removing caste
