Just realize the Govt just falls short to enact laws to 1) directly loot you and make you bankrupt 2) To share your bed.For the first they realize you are a duck which lays golden egg.For even marraige they have laws to encourage inter caste marriages and make you suffer for a long time to get married.
From reservations should start a mass movement and express our views.We cannot tolerate the nasty vote bank politics anymore.Lets fight against the big internal terrorist.The reservation.Let them use economy as criteria and empower them using facilities and scholarships.Lets voice for our rights.

im not an urban guy.im from 100% rural area where I had education. For scoring a very good mark the shit Govt gave me 100Rs one time scholarship where other rich guys enjoyed a lot during college days.I will never forget the backstabbings of India.

What this Govt has done for poor Brahmins who work as cooks,priests in very small temples,doing household works,illiterate people and their families.Even a looter will have a sympathy and sense of justice to the victims.Not the Indian Govt or their supporters,including media.Have you ever seen a single article describing the poor status of Brahmins in any journal/magazine? Be it The Hindu,or Indian express or CNN IBN??Think.Do we really belong to this country?Are we tax paying machines only?

I wish to ask rediff y is it against the caste census?it never opposed the publication of matrimonials based upon caste in each n every newspaper every sunday,it never opposes the exclusive brahmin domination of all the major minor temples of india,it never opposed the use of sirnames by people which has been perpetuating the caste system since centuries,y is it against the caste census now?.Dalits still being massacred,their homes still being ransacked,their daughters still being raped n molested.a poor brahmin n kshatriya n a poor dalit cant claim equal status in the society,more so in villages where stil more than 65% of india resides. Plzz,Rediff has to explain the rationale behind its opposition,else I wud deem it tht this is only a gimmick 2 corner more webhits n eyeballs,n gievn the topic it wud mostly b frm the upper castes.

Caste sensus is for what purpose? to pour acid in some ones mouth ? bad public writing ! Abhay kant pls visit Tamil nadu where the lower cast based assault is not there ( As poor as like northern states). Will your census make the poor people strong?t is just another tool to get vote and nothing good will follow this. More over India will go poorer than British period, they divided us in as many parts as possible and ruled us.

economical progress is fine ...how do you quantify social progress ? with the number of upper castes giving away their up tightness and opening themselves to the concept of marrying a so-called DAlit, shudra or any other lower caste? if not how do you claim with economic progress comes social progress?

that doesn't answer my question...while reservations are a positive incentive for lower castes it should have acted as a negative incentive for upper castes to accept a caste-less society...has that change come? are inter-caste marriages common fare and cool? we still have a long way to go but yes the system of reservations can't go on forever ...agree with you on that...

u can motivate people to do intercaste marriages. For e.g. giving reservation to people who marry a dalit girl or boy. If you give incentive it will lead to a casteless society

care to research a bit before you post ? that incentive is already there...although i agree that the system of benefits has to go one day...but that can only come with true social acceptability to the concept of a casteless one...can our nation bear that brunt (as many would like to perceive it as being an offensive move on Hindu ideology )?

assiging new benefits/more benefits on the basis of castes will only strengthen its roots. You will agree no reservation can be for life long, but give me one example where a caste/person has gone out from the SC/ST/OBC list. Instead you have laughable inclusions like gujjars, kurmis, yadavs and even jats.

Dont unnecessarily abuse the hindu ideology. caste in the past was bsed on karma. The problem with our reservation systems is it relies too much on the birth and in effect propagates the same ideology it aims to defeat. If it is based on one's profession- such as mochi/hajjam etc irrespective of the caste they were borne all the problems will be solved

If the govt can not do much then at least it should stop giving benefits that only strengthens the malaise. Any classs/group which is supposed to be backward has to be dynamic. That means with the time some groups should be removed and new ones should be added. But in effect none are removed and every day a new one is added due to political considerations

If respecting human equality and dignity can be achieved not by being a good Hindu, but by converting to Christianity or Islam, so be it.
caste census is important...i mean how do we not deal with figures when we talk about allocating limited resources like college seats , govt jobs etc. we need figures in other parameters regarding caste too...even just to measure whether the benefits and empowerment are percolating to the intended beneficiaries and not getting abused we need to keep track of it which the census will serve to.
However having said all this , this instrument should remind us that one day the concept of caste in our society has to go if people on both sides are to be treated on merit and be dealt fairly. It has to be systematically dismantled until it fades away but the deadline to it must be set , it can't go on forever. The economic and the educational system fairness can only happen when there will be a societal acceptability to the concept of not having any castes , then only the conditions to judge all irrespective of any caste to be judged on merit and merit alone.
