He is not talking about improving status of primary education. He is talking about introducing foreign B grade universities.

Not in terms of quality of education, but certainly in quantity of people getting educated, considering rate of growth of population.

This minister is a CHEAT
by prem k on Mar 19, 2010 04:19 PM

He knows very well that Indias population would be the largest in world by 2030, perhaps 40-50% more (if our growth rate does not subside) than even China. With a 65% literacy rate, he can always claim that we have the most number of "educated" people in the world. It is a shame that such worthies are ministers.

It seems everyone is missing the point here what Sibal actually is saying.

He says "India will have most educated people by 2030" i.e. in absolute terms, when we are growing in population the way we are it no surprise what he has said.

Mr. Sibal will you tell what percentage of people in India would be educated by 2030????

Bribe from foreign university groups

May be it is not true and just an assumption. But seems like huge amount of money has been exchanged between foreign uni lobby and the HRD ministry. First they open up gates for all the B & C class schools from the west and now are promoting education with aid of technology. I dont think he is talking about giving mobile phones to teachers in villages!!

Imagine district control room calling Sibal, "Mr. Gupta of Kashipur village seems to be absent from school sir, he is out of radar!!".

Mr. Gupta replies to notice fired to him by the HRD ministry "Dear Sir, there was no electricity for 7 days in our village, hence could not charge the batteries."

In actual, Mr. Gupta was in 'ganne ka khet' with other lady teacher!!

There are thousands of villages without mobile telephony coverage. So is he going to get the Communications minister to do the needful?
