by mammen antony on Jan 05, 2010 12:46 AM

None ask such questions, even if a candidate asks so, nothing wrong that, for it is better to clarify things beforehand regarding ones Leaves, promotion policy, commutations, weekly offs,etc....etc...I myself have asked 90% of the above questions to the employer in a couple of interviews I had in the past.No one raised an eyebrow, In fact they were happy to respond and later hired me too.Headhunters must be living in the fools paradise. In fact they should encourage the candidate to ask such vital questions to avoid future confusions in their career.

all of you please do this
by Devdutt Nayak on Jan 05, 2010 12:37 AM

make sure you save this page as a record of how bad things are when supply of talent is ample and demand is limited.

then when you become decision makers, revisit this page and see what you can do about this, rather than add your contribution to this mess.

finally, if you have free time, when you are NOT frustrated with your job or boss or project, (only then) try comparing this with bonded labour and feudal slavery and point out the differences for yourself.

Remember, if your boss wants to induct someone else, he will make life difficult for you and allow you to be frustrated and provoke you to speak up.

and someone is always plotting against you because he wil have less competition during appraisal.

So make sure you dont so this analysis at that time or you can get very frustrated :-)

(I'm writing this because I know a chap who was so sick of the boss in the last bust, around 2004, that he got out in anger. Had a tough time getting another job.)

But it is very enjoyable to see how these companies and these recruiters make sure that you are scared to the maximum so that you agree to most conditions they put on paper.

The "free market" is a false propaganda.

These HR policies being recommended by a recruiter on a strongly independent media site like Rediff is a proof of the sad state of our "progressive economic reforms"

sense-x is more important that good sense.

Nonsense!
by Raj Ray on Jan 04, 2010 11:06 PM  | Hide replies

No one asks these stupid Qs!

How soon can I transfer to another role?
Do you have any other jobs available in your company?
Can you tell me about the best way (bus or train) to reach the office from my residence?

The last one takes the cake. I can't believe this guy has 22 years of experience and is from IIMC.

Little wonder this country's job market is chaotic. Blind leading the blind.

The questions are mandatory
by Gelwin Miranda on Jan 04, 2010 06:21 PM  | Hide replies

Everyday new companies come up with scam employers and fake projects mentioned on their website. I think it would really be right to ask an employer about the company because most of the things they put on their websites are simply verticals. Being a webdesigner and having designed a load of websites I have seen people falsify information and put even non existing international branches on their contact pages etc.
Rather regret later It is better to ask.

This article basically asks you to get very afraid and bow down like a carpet.

Which it seems you have to, in a recession. Someone should tell the PM's economic advisors that such articles reflect the sorry state of affairs for the Aam Aadmi.

Damn where are all those BJP supporters when there is a REAL issue close to everyone's hearts and pockets ?!?!?

Salary and good working conditions is something you will be able to grill the Congress on for next 20-30 ytears.

Hey BJP folks, now is the time, come out and attack.

No sarcasm. Someone needs to do the stated job of the Opposition - to point out that this kind of article is making cowards out of people and if this is how it is, then the Govt is screwing up BIG TIME.
