Hmmmm... quite possible, you know. In fact, to boost sale of mustard oil, the sellers promoted the belief that men could increase the length of their phallic symbol by massage of mustard oil on it.
During our school days it was told to keep hand under tap water if it has burn injuries..when we reached highshool we were told not to do ...when we reached college we were told water is best for burn injuries ...when I sharted working was told not to use water for burnt skin ..now I am totally confused and do not know what is IN and what is OUT ! ..can anyone help me !

Actually, these so called experts have inspired some men to massage mustard oil on their phallic organs thinking this would increase length.

"Do these people restrict their wives to eat 2 slices of bread additional only during pregnancy..."
2 slices of bread in addition to their ordinary diet is what the article meant.
The problem is these so called busted myths would have been earlier formed by similar "researches". So now new research has busted old research, and some newer research would further bust this new research. Therefore the researchers would keep getting their bread and butter at the expense of gullible readers who believe this non sense. Problem is due to this prevarication and nonsense genuine research work suffers and people become nihilistic and stop believing any research.

Well said Yugal. Best to stick to what one has been taught as a kid by parents / other elders. For instance, I never bought that 8 glasses of water a day thing. The old maxim: if you are not drinking enough water, your urine gets colored. So, watch your urine and drink when you are thirsty.

If you start believing something without logic and reasoning based on experimental findings, it results into such myths. Taking 8 to 10 glasses of water has become a myth why ? The water as a universal solvent removes toxins from the body by dissolving unwanted chemicals such as urea / uric acid, dissoved salts wch could precipitate in urinary system to form stone problem. At the same time , excess water will take away lot of salts from the body make you feel tired. You have to find a balance for your body what is right. You have to logically break this chain of how many glasses of water you require ? Same way, excess vitamins intake may create some problem of toxicity of even vitamins. Vitamin A and D if taken in excess can create lot of problems as they are fat soulble. What we are told is all the time half knowledge which is always dangerous.
