No.2 and No.9 is wrong
by Rudran on May 29, 2009 07:18 PM

One needs plenty of water everyday....juice, tea, e.t.c is not enough.....No.2 is absolute bullshit.

And cardiovascular exercises improve your breathing and reduce ur weight, but it only partially reduces ur fat....the only way to get rid of abdominal fat is by specific exercises like Situps, squats, and other medicine ball based exercises.

Hence I request Rediff not to publish unauthentic information like this.

Such fake scientists would definitely thrive in a country where men can use mustard oil to increase the length of their organs.

All rubbish. Only follow a healthy Ayurvdic life style and forget about all these so called sponseredd studies.

Multivamin supplements can lead to premature death??
by Bhasmasur Rakshas on May 29, 2009 03:31 PM  | Hide replies

What nonsense......in fact, if you don't get your vitamin C, E and A thru your daily diet, it is better you take them in a supplementary form......otherwise, the vitamin deficiency can affect you badly....

This report seems to be a dud one..........drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water in a humid climate ensures that you will not have dehydration.......

Such reports are quite controversial and confusing to people.....

Myth: You need to drink eight glasses of water a day
by kaushal kumar on May 29, 2009 03:04 PM  | Hide replies

Where was this study conducted? I hope it was not in Siberia or Greenland?
I would certainly like to take my hat off to the people who manage to pull along with only 750 ml (total liquid intake) in this summer in the plains of India.

Kaushal, the point is simply this: drink only as much as you need. Your body will tell you when it needs water: you will feel thirsty. Also note to watch the color of your urine - if it is not clear, you need water.

Taking 8 to 10 glasses of water has become a myth why ?
The water as a universal solvent removes toxins from the body by dissolving unwanted chemicals such as urea / uric acid, dissoved salts wch could precipitate in urinary system to form stone problem.
At the same time , excess water will take away lot of salts from the body make you feel tired.
You have to find a balance for your body what is right.
You have to logically break this chain of how many glasses of water you require ?
Same way, excess vitamins intake may create some problem of toxicity of even vitamins. Vitamin A and D if taken in excess can create lot of problems as they are fat soulble.
What we are told is all the time half knowledge which is always dangerous.

Very efficient procedure. No need for me to go to the loo with you. As soon as you come out, I have a special sensor which I would insert to check it out. Don't worry - it would pain a bit at the beginning, then it would be just fine for you...

Excessive wateris just like excessive food is harmful.

There is no hard & fast rule of drinking eight glasses of water a day is a must.
It depends on climatic condition & ur physical activites.

Science is a subject whose always proves itself wrong.

you cannot trust it, it is limited by our level of knowledge.

You are wrongly interpreting the Theory and Observation. Observation is a fact and this fact generally does not change unless it was limited due to some inbuilt limitations of observation itself. But the theory to explain the observation may get refined with time and with increasing knowledge.
So Science does not prove itself wrong but its explanations to arrive at certain conclusions may be wrong, reasons I have given WHY ?
