I cant agree MORE - this is BULLSHIT in the truest sense of the term.
I know for sure that the minimum intake of water/fluid per day is 2.00 lit excluding what we get from normal diet.

This has been identifies through studies that there is a correlation between body weight and daily wqater requirements. Don't misjudge anything just because you have less knowledge. for a wt. of 40kg your body water requirement is 1.32l.

A truly misguided article, do you have any report abuse feature for an article..
Any moron knows, that beer and alcohol in genreal de-hyrdates you as they actually consume liquid from the body. Hence you get hang-overs as your body is de-hyrdated in the morning :)

my personal experience, stopping all sorts of refined sugars (sugar, corn starch and refined all purpose flour) altogether greatly reduced my hyperactivity and also ensured that my sleep pattern returned to a normal state. It also gave me a very bad reaction because my system was used to a lot of sugar (due to 5-6 full cups of tea per day).

This seems like a deliberate attempt to mislead people and fill the pockets of some worried companies whose profits are dwindling.

if you have a grandpa aged above 80 years observe his food habits and ask his suggestion on food intake Then follow his advise as that would suit you well genetically and practically.

Dude, if he is above 80, then obviously he has been enjoying reasonably good health. We can understand the logic Nandakumar is trying to explain here.

Not necessary...I have personally seen aged people having a host of illnesses pertaining to bad lifestyle..though it may not necessarily affect longitivity..

There is a boom in this world to come out with some thing new and wipe out the established concepts. Why should I accept that chocolates are not harmful? The study about fats and metabolism linked together is really funny when one sees the end result of this study.
Rediff must have a panel of experts for screening such crap articles.Rediff is becoming crap itself now-a-days.

Myth: I'm fat because I have slow metabolism

They have argued with outcome not as a finding. Fat people obviously lose calories faster because they have to make more physical effort doing the same things. More effort means more physical workout for the body.

Myth:This study is true
by Shivaranjani on May 30, 2009 12:28 PM  | Hide replies

In this study it is mentioned that humans require only 750ml of water a day and not 7-8 glasses.I would like to put forth a question...750ml works out to be 6 glasses a day.Are 6 glasses and 7 glasses such a big difference. It is not a crime to have 1 glass more!!The writer of the article has not mentioned the size of the glasses whether it is pint glass, beer glass, indian tea glass etc.

THIS ARTICLE NEEDS TO BE SPECIFIC!!

You silly joker, who gave you such atrocious measures of water an average glass of water has a volume of 200 ml of water that means average 4 glasses a day in a day are enough!!
Are you a Leftist or Communalist who normally just criticise just for the sake of critisizing without even understanding the subject like the Nuclear Deal that India just signed?

Health myth - What can rediff team do?
by Srienivasamurthy Iyer on May 30, 2009 12:11 PM  | Hide replies

One look at the article & the kind of responses to it, is enough to convince me that the rediff team's job is incomplete with the mere publication on this page. So, what should it do when considering to publish such articles?
Must put it through a competent panel of experts from regular and alternative medicine systems to examine each myth in depth. They should also weigh their opinions against traditional & ancient wisdom like Ayurveda and then moderate the article with dos & donts for the readers so that they are properly guided. This is responible journalism !!
