IIT seems a only destination for all the kids in india, where are we heading? No one wants to take research studies in colleges and continue teaching,we have a very huge shortage of good teachers.

after IIT its CAT or GMAT. all these so called brains are drained and india does not benefit in the direction it could have. IITians should aspire to create technologies and think of creating INTEL's, MICROSOFT's and GOOGLE's not leading them as CEO's.

it's easier said than done. Do you realise that when an iitian tries to do something in India it is branded IIT. And then everyone criticizes it.

On another note , to run anything in India one needs muscle power too along with brains. one needs to step on paths of corruption to make your way on to the top. So, a lot of ppl just keep away.

And then you bring in reservations and bring down the quality of peers, which hits on ones morale too. I would urge politicians to create a well rounded primary and secondary education system, instead of introducing reservations in IIT. I have seen reserved category students in IIT, and can tell you one thing. They do suffer from a combination of guilt and incapability to perform which hits on their morale too.

If this interests you, I am an IITian. And I personally belive, India has overhyped them. They are normal people and just let them be

Didnt see any great talent from this write up - all this proves is that he is a first rate rat in this rote world of indian academics.. anyway be an iitian myself and a top ranker from a similar board in the 80s, i can tell you that such achievements are highly overrated - i am more interested in media giving the right attention to the hundreds of really talented children out there who are unknown and unheard... and phaps our ICSE boards should do well to read N Murthy's latest book which has a whole chapter on education .. plus why is hardwork considered a burden for fools - something wrong here

I support your statement. I do believe kids such as him are overrated. Some of the best minds in the world, weren't geniuses at school.

I bet he would struggle with applying the concepts he scored so well in at school to real world solutions. Its a great achievement never the less.
