It is good to see an informative article about entry to the Armed forces of our country!

To make it even motivating for the youth, the author could have briefly listed some of the faclities/perks as also an idea of the salary !

As someone who has been a part of this GREAT force at a senior level for over 35 years, I wish to list out some of the facilities that one enjoys in the Armed Forces:-

1. You will be part of a Service that is held in high esteem by all Indians and will get a chance to serve and fight for your motherland-a great honour!

2. Chance to pick up and play rarest of the games and sports e.g., golf, sailing, flying, swimming, polo, billiards etc.

3. Club- To drink, dance and make merry!

4. House, at highly subsidised rates.

5. Free medical facilities for self, parents, wife and children.

6. LTC.

7.Canteen facilities.

8. Chance to visit the entire country.

9. Group Housing.

10. Attractive post retirement benefits.

11. A reasonable pay packageand job security.

12. No quota for SC/ST/OBC/any religion!!!!!!

13. You will be by and large insulated from the vicious Police of the country!

Hope many youngsters will now get motivated to join the Defence Forces as officers!

1.High esteem - The organization which most corrupt in India is Indian Army.they dont utilize the tax money which highest to defence ministry in India to proper material.

2.U can play all games sitting at home ,just to get free of cost does not mean u should be in army.

3.Again free drink.

4.House 1 bhk with old toiletries and without water.

5.To avail mediacl facilities u need to take rounds of hospital before getting treatment.

6.LTC - again joke.

7.Canteen facilities - cheap but half taste less and half material is taken in home by canteen workers.

8.Chance to visit entire conurty by train near its toilet as ministry gives order to reprt at any centre but dont give confirm ticket to travel.

9. Group housing - by d time u will retire no grouping and housing will be ther.

10.Post retirement benifits - after retirement u become normal citizen then see how police , civic admin and local behaves with u.

11.Job security- where can not enjoy the benefit of salary with ur family.

12.Quota - who said there is no quota takle any Rojgar Samachar and see.

so think before u join army.

three of my relatives who retired from armed forces all got good jobs without struggling much. Now they are enjoying their life with good salaries and pension from Government. while in forces life may not be all that easy once you retire you are much better placed than a civilian.

Very Well motivated Mr.Ram Sarma.

Thanks to Rediff for posting such articles.

It would be nice if Govt. of India/ Min. of Defence/ Army/ Navy/ Air Force alongwith Media and Internet come forward and keep giving such information every year well in advance for the students to look/ plan/ decide their career in the Defence/ Armed Forces.

They should also approach various schools/ colleges atleast a couple of times in a year and boost/ encourage/ motivate the children to take a career path in the armed forces.

Media should play important role in encouraging the students by giving POSITIVE information about the armed forces (as given by Mr.Ram Sarma in his very first point (Sl.No.1)).

When terrorists/ millitant groups, etc., are able to brainwash the students/ children at a tender age and change them into human bombs with NEGATIVE character, WHY Can't the Government, Ministry of Defence, and the Armed Forces take the same work and groom the students/ children with a POSITIVE character and mould them into BRAVE SOLDIERS of the Nation ?

I hope the Govt., Armed Forces and the Media to come forward and give only POSITIVE info about the armed forces and encourage the students to serve the nation and become Brave citizens of the nation.

Thnx, Mr. Ravi! It is sad but true that the govt and the media do not give adequate publicity to a career in defence.

The TRP of media goes up with film related or crime related news-not with that related to defence!

The armed forces perhaps do not have as much funds as need to, to spend appropriately on advertisements.

So far as the govt is concerned, it does not have any policy for anything-all are busy in minting money illegally.

Perhaps some business house/phillanthrophist could launch a public awareness programme, which will be in the country's and the youth's interest.

It is quite clear from your message that you were court martialled and thrown out from the Army for breach of discipline.

This country is independent today ONLY because of the armed forces which are a disciplined force and have no place for indisciplined louts like you.

It is amazing that senseless and factually absurd rantings of a disgruntled person earn the dubious title of "report abuse disabled"!!

It is obvious that the person doing so have no clue of the ground realities!

Mr. Rat, There is no need for me to "report abuse" for any message-however absurd and shit it might be-like yours. Afterall, one does not have to respond to the rabid barking dogs.
