SSB
by Ravi hegde on Jun 25, 2009 11:25 AM

i have been thru the SSB, and had got conference out. while i am sure i was a borderline case, the officers kept stressing a fact that my graduation in biosciences does not meet with the nature of duties that i need to perform as a pilot. while there is actually no connection and i had cleared the rest of the tests fairly, the IO and the Conference board stressed on the same point, which clearly indicated to me that this is the only reason for not recommending me then. i dont have any ill feelings as it has made me realise what to say next time. but then i dont find any reason why the air force had held a Fast track selection in various cities post the 4 SSC SSB in arnd January 09? finally this was held in the engg colleges across the country than in air force territory which makes me smell a rat. i just hope that the right men and women get in to genuinely serve the country and not make merry.

Army is not good anymore.
by Ripudaman Singh on Jun 25, 2009 11:23 AM  | Hide replies

A lot of seats remain vacant in these academies just because there is no transparency in selection procedure. The SSB style of selection is about seventy year old, that used by Americans in WW II. Here people who conduct SSB are not untouched with corruption. They don’t tell why you could not clear SSB. And those who have seen army closely can tell that corruption is there and that too at higher level. So God knows what OLQ (Officers like qualities) they see in selected candidates. They is no system that must ask these people that if someone has cleared CDS for 5 or 6 times and has come for SSB they why they keep rejecting him or they must tell what candidate lacks so that from next time he comes prepare. All those who have appeared for SSB would agree that final day is full of confusion and surprises. I still don’t know whey they sent me back 6 times and I myself witnessed people getting selected through references, one of them was my friend. If they have a transparent procedure for selection, there are many people who would like to become army officer and army does not need to advertise.

i agree to this. where 135 people report, only 4 get recommended, some who come in for the nth time yet end up losing the battle. if the SSB details are given out this would help the candidates to prepare and appear more fit in the next rounds. hopefully the defence establishment would look into this. rediff guys please pass on this request to the defence SSB authorities.

Maybe there are somethings which are not repairable .. or rather changeable..
the best part is it may not be required in army/defence but very much required in other arena of civil establishments...
Maybe..

This is what they explain when they declare the result. You are still guessing... If they are so sure they this must be told at very first attempt. So if they is a scope of improvement then it should ne clearly told.

Why should there not be a rule
by Fried Yakov on Jun 25, 2009 11:02 AM  | Hide replies

That 50% of all cabinet and MOS berths be reserved for people who are ex-servicepersons? The Indian defence forces should press for this

Very good and thought provoking question!!

Not only politicians and IAS, but even the children of IPS officers NEVER join the defence forces! During my 35 years as an officer in the Army, I did not come across even one son of an IPS/IAS/Politician in the Army!!

Yhe reason is not difficult to guess: The Armed Forces(90% of them ) are NOT corrupt and there is no/very little scope of making money on the sly!

WELL said. If they have joined the armed forces, they might have spoiled the forces too with their quota system. They will consume all promotions by hook or crook.

I don't find any relevance of your question with the topic.

You want the politician's relative to join the armed forces because they already have secondary income and they wont need any money??????

If thats the case, this move could actually corrupt the armed forces also... doggy ki dum tedhi hi rehti hai

and armed forces are'nt the one that pays you less. Its just that you'll have to be content.
You may not earn 50 lakh p.a. at the end of your carreer but you'll have sufficient to live your life with dignity

1.High esteem - The organization which most corrupt in India is Indian Army.they dont utilize the tax money which highest to defence ministry in India to proper material.
2.U can play all games sitting at home ,just to get free of cost does not mean u should be in army.
3.Again free drink.
4.House 1 bhk with old toiletries and without water.
5.To avail mediacl facilities u need to take rounds of hospital before getting treatment.
6.LTC - again joke.
7.Canteen facilities - cheap but half taste less and half material is taken in home by canteen workers.
8.Chance to visit entire conurty by train near its toilet as ministry gives order to reprt at any centre but dont give confirm ticket to travel.
9. Group housing - by d time u will retire no grouping and housing will be ther.
10.Post retirement benifits - after retirement u become normal citizen then see how police , civic admin and local behaves with u.
11.Job security- where can not enjoy the benefit of salary with ur family.
12.Quota - who said there is no quota takle any Rojgar Samachar and see.
so think before u join army.

Dont try to fool yourself by preaching others .if someone joins army he should be clear that army is not for enjoyment and making money(joining Armed forces is the most noble and honorable profession ) ,in fact One has to be selfless, which is greatest gift a human can posses.
