i had been disqualified from india's rat race
by vinitha pillai on Jan 04, 2010 12:54 PM  | Hide replies

it is not clear what message the author intends to communicate to the readers. Does he mean that the students should not study regularly in the class and slip sometime which would ultimately take them to England? What is the achievement he made by not seriously taking up studies in India. It is a known fact that some of the Universities in England/ Europe/ USA have reserved certain seats for outside students. By merely obtaining a degree in England does not mean everything. The brillant students, though poor, will not have an uncle like what he had. Good wishes.

The only message is that a person who is interested in some field should pursue that field for the sheer joy of it... The amount of money, whether the job is high level or low level should not and does not matter... Indian mentalities...

Even though im very succesfull in India...i had times wen i faced such situation.

U have written it very well....

When i was a lil kid.....i used to like a few subjects and infact fail at others....later in 9th standard....it just changed...i suddenly turned out to be the class topper.

then had a golden path thr after..

but even in between thr were times when i felt low on confidence....
the problem is...everybody hates to b a looser...whatever it be..studies/games/chicks.. :p

Are foreign degrees relevant in India?
by Cedric Vaz on Jan 04, 2010 12:46 PM

You will be able to measure up your success only after you adapt your foreign degrees to suit our Indian standards and industry requirements in order to obtain gainful employment.
And by the way don't forget that the Union Jack and Uncle Sam are firstly more interested in GBPs and $$$ from foreign students as they run their Universities just like the McDonalds and KFC where the bottom line is - sales and money!

Your write-up was very inspiring. These are strange ways of the Almighty -- when one door closes He opens another. You have a wonderful mother and paternal uncle. I wish you well.

Well some of the feelings shared by aruni is really reverberating inside me.. there are some truth but the way it has been put sounds a bit like colonial mindset..kolkatta is full of it.. but this rat race undoubtedly exists !!
