Incidentally, Tirupathi runs several educational institutions including the great SVIMS (Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences) and other health related institutions. So is the story with Shirdi.

Hi Sonia,
It is like this:
As on today there are 600 districts & 3342 Taluks in India. Assume that the financier wants to start a school at least one per taluk. The cost of starting a school (price of land, construction, equipment & furniture, salaries, recurring costs & so on) works out to an average of 10 crores if you want to start an average school & about four times more if you want to start a high quality school. On an average, this works out to 50,000 crores to have a mix of at least one school per school per taluk.
If you want to impart good education, you have to keep out reservation based on caste consideration both for the teachers & for the students that the government would never agree thanks to their perpetuation of caste based vote bank politics.
Assuming that they indeed permit such a happening, who do you think would collect such a huge sum & administer/collaborate assuming that there is a conglomerate of different institutions? It would be like putting several frogs on a pan at the same time, because each of these institutions would have a separate agenda.
Even for people like Ambanis also, this amount (10 Billions) would be sizable. In any case, education is NOT their cup of tea or priority. This is indeed very sad, since they can deliver the education well. On the other hand, the government that has funds will never be able to deliver because of multitude of factors like corruption, caste politics, reservation & so on.
people have written bashing Tarun and not his statement which is absolutely true.typical Indian mentality where issues are not debated but persons .look at the cost of education .who controls it?

Whether the rich fund temples or shrines should not be any of his concern. It is their money! They can spend it on what they want.
Who does he think funds the mosques? India's rich muslims and the rich Saudi family.
Who funds the large Cathedrals and churches? It is the rich Christians from all the different denominations - Baptist, Mormons, Pentacostals, Seventh day adventists ...
The Government of India which should be a neutral body takes the 'tax payer' money and funds Muslim Haj pilgrimage so why should the India's rich not fund their own temples.
Anyway why is the government of India not use that money to set up good educational institutions?
Majority of American institutions are "State Universities". Even those endowed American universities take money from the US government.
Scores of hungry barefoored children are kept outside the gates of a well maintained temple while the presiding diety is ceremoniously washed with hundred litres of milk. What a thing to happen in this country of poor !! And yet it is not a blot in the conciencse of millions of our Hindus who equate godliness with only magnificently maintained temples while 80% of the children in India suffer from some form of malnourishment. Hinduism requires a revolution !

Open your eyes and see! In Tirupati, everyday single day they feed all the people who get into the temple. Just because some secular Hindus pout some condescending words, it does not mean that it is true. Anyway, why don't you start a revolution?

yes .it is long overdue.i also disagree on magnificently maintained temples.a few may be but the majority are in bad shape.look at ISCON temples for Lord krishna.how clean they are and how well maintained

ISKON is not maintained by governmnet, that is why it looks so clean! Where as Maximum Hindu temples are maintained by Goverment bodies and being looted by govt emploayees...! Now Hindus should question themselves before donating hefty amount to temples which is maintained by governments bodies.

He is the man who had investigated the huge corruption (of Rs 2 Lacs)of Bangaru Laxman of BJP and conveniently ignored small corruptions (of thousands of crore repees) of Lalu Prasda Yadhav (Fodder Scam) and of Koda etc.
He is an anti Hindu secular..! Then how can he highlight about christian missionaries activities?
