Rescheduled twice
by Guest on Dec 07, 2009 09:56 AM

My name is Apoorv Kalra. And my Testing ID is SR5878086. I had my appointment at Garden City College, bangalore on 5th december at 3:30 pm. I was unable to give my exam as the software hung thrice and I lost time for no reason. It was rescheduled to Kormangala centre for 6th december at 3:30 pm. At this centre the infrastructure was pathetic and unfortunately again the system allotted to me did not have power connections done and later they realized that the software itself was not installed on their machine. Finally after 2 hrs of tussle they alloted me a spare seat. And within first half an hour of my test some Database error obstructed the course of exam for all the students at the centre. After an hour exam started for half of us whereas other half created a chaos at the centre as many of them were not residents of bangalore and travelled from different places to bangalore (not for the first time, as this centre was specifically made for the ones who have already been through the trauma). Finally when I was in last 1 hour of my test again a power failure happened. I just gave up at 7:45 pm that I cannot give the test this way. I waited at the centre till 9 pm with few other students to have a ticket number. And as of now i don't have a confirmation from anyone on my reschedule. I am really tired and psychologically devastated as I really prepared hard for CAT and I just wanted my 135 minutes in peace. Please help me put my voice across to IIMs.

Thanks
Apoorv

IIM is a joke !
by akshay kumar on Dec 04, 2009 08:36 AM

Unfortunately in this country, Indians consider IIMs to be great institutions. The fact is that they're no where near the best of the world. How many foreign students are ready to apply in IIM A , B or C ???

They're nothin but a joke. And, this year's CAT proves it.

It is very easy to sit in an AC classroom and use case studies to teach students Bus. Mgmt. But in reality, they've done blunders which they themselves teach students not to do in corporate sector.

Preach what u practice and don't make mockery of students and system !!

Surprise the coveted institutions of the country failed to conduct computer based admission tests. These produce best talent in the country but miserable when come to online test conduct. BITS, Pilani introduced many years back the online admission test and conducting successfully. So, better consult BITs on conducting this type of exams.

If IIM do away with Computer aided CAT exam, why not Election Commission do away with Computerised Voting Machine and back to paper ballot

There is difference in figure 2000 and 2 Lakhs ..... so in this term prometric is better ......but when onn an average 10 thousand were aon line at a time such load testing should be done earlier ....... application wrt UNIX Server must be designed as Crashing ratio of UNIX to Windows is far lesss

Actually IIM has underestimated servers and Network capacity. This may be because of their calculative and research oriented mindset and believe in theory with partial practical points. Virus in PC is purely excuse to hide poor network/server designing. Biggest point is that IIM has not fired/penalised any officials for such blunder. Cause may be whatsover but problem was faced by Students so many officials & compoany should be made held responsible. It is better management.

Boon for everyone not getting selected

Yes, anybody who will not get selected to IIMs this year have a perfect alibi - "If only, the test was paper based, I'd have got a 110 percentile"

Perfect punching bag to hide your own failure ;)

Why prometrics?
by amit saxena on Dec 03, 2009 05:51 PM

CDAC is an online test which is conducted every six months and lacks of people appear in it.
CDAC has been doing it since last 20 yrs.
Inspite of all this expertise why the test is conducted by private players??

Management..... Huh!
by vivek on Dec 03, 2009 05:50 PM

IIMs trains future corporate managers, but it itself cannot manage a small modification in entrance process easily.

It shows IIMs are nothing but hype. They cannot carry out even a single change smoothly. What management shell thy teach?
