why is it that whenever someone in the country tries something new, we have a lot of crabs trying to pull them down into the same old basket? of course people from TIME / CAREER LAUNCHER / etc who mint millions in the name of 'preparation for CAT' will do anything to get back to the old system, whereas in the new system they will not make any further investments and may have to close down! if other countries can have online tests what is wrong in our country, which is a software powerhouse, not trying the same? has anyone checked whether the glitches that occured were bcos of IIM and the test conductor, or was it bcos the centres where the tests were being conducted were cheap enough not to go in for an extensive anti-virus sw or new systems which are the sole cause of the problems that occured?

I suggest that some of the IIM aspirants get together & file a case in the honorable high court, or a petition in the Supreme Court, and seek an injunction prohibiting the CAT convenor from using the computerized test scores in determining the outcomes. There is no sanctity to the software's authenticity, and whether the tests are correctly recorded, or has any data been corrupted; or wrong scores/exchange of scores happening.
Barring such an injunction, after the results are declared on 22nd January 2010, i would suggest that IIM aspirants challenge their scores in the supreme court, if they are not satisfied, and ask the IIM CAT convenor to prove the veracity of the process. The honorable SC will accept that the burden or proof will now rest on the IIM CAT convenor, due to the repeated failures and problems that have been experienced. Consequently, "reasonable doubt" can be admitted as cause.

Does not matter, the principles of natural justice apply. The IIMs will be hard pressed to provide answers to some of the questions that can be asked by the SC. This matter is not of "general public interest", and therefore, the SC will not intervene suo moto, or convert any newspaper reports to a PIL. There must some some interested & affected parties (IIM aspirants) who file the motion.

so, ppl must get terrorized and do nothing? If you feel you are right then go and file a suit.

Mr P Viswanath's suggestion is sensible and pragmatic under the circumstances. Even if the computerised test is completed there will be a blamegame from disappointed sections of the candidates once the results are announced on 22nd January which could culminate in attempts to seek remedy in one's own way. Introduction of any new system/procedure needs excellence in operational efficiency if not perfection and time spent to achieve will always stay in goodstead.
